Check the materials and approach needed for the course, and understand the basic direction for the hands-on exercises that follow.

Section 2

Terraform Installation and Learning Overview

Explore the first execution process using Terraform and review the material covered previously. Get an overall understanding of the infrastructure-as-code management and hands-on practice scope covered in this course.

Section 3

Setting Up the Practice Environment and Installing Terraform

After checking the prerequisites for the hands-on exercises, install Terraform and verify that it runs properly. Set up the basic execution environment so that you can proceed with command-line exercises later.

Section 4

Terraform’s AWS Access and IAM Setup

Understand how Terraform accesses AWS and the role of the provider. Create an IAM user for the hands-on exercises and prepare the necessary permissions.

Section 5

Credential Management and Initial Project Configuration

Learn how to pass AWS credentials to Terraform and the essential security principles you must follow. Safely manage your credentials while setting up your first Terraform project directory.

Section 6

Writing the Main Configuration File and Initialization

Write the AWS provider and infrastructure configuration in the main configuration file, then run the initialization command. Review the roles of the files generated during initialization and the provider plugins.

Section 7

Change Planning, Application, State Management, and Deletion

Interpret the symbols in the plan command’s output to review create, delete, and change operations in advance, then use the apply command to create infrastructure such as an S3 bucket. After examining the role of the state file, safely clean up the practice resources with the destroy command.

I am an infrastructure engineer who has been wrestling with servers for over 20 years. Starting with Linux server operations, I am now in charge of the cloud infrastructure for a large-scale payment service. My daily life involves migrating from data centers to AWS, managing hundreds of instances, and tracing the causes of failures in the early hours of the morning.

The reason I created this course is simple.

I often received questions like these from those around me: "I managed to connect to the server, but I don't know what to do next." "There are so many instance types; which one should I choose?" These are the exact same points where I got stuck at first. However, when I looked for resources, I found that most of them were written for people who already knew what they were doing.

So I decided to create the course I wish I had when I first started learning.

My lectures are based on three principles.

First, I help you understand rather than memorize. Instead of just listing commands, I explain why we use them in the first place.

Second, I boldly omit unnecessary content. I do not increase the volume by including information that is useless to beginners right now.

Third, I also talk about what doesn't work. Instead of just listing the pros, I clearly point out cases where it might not be a good fit. For someone who has to make decisions in the field, that is more important.
