Choose running shoes that fit my feet

Did you buy them based on brand and reviews, only to end up with sore feet, or are you putting off running because you’re stuck choosing gear?

I’ve spent over 20 years wrestling with servers, turning complex choices into actionable criteria.
In this course, you’ll identify your foot type using a wet footprint and learn about cushioning, drop, sizing, and in-store inspection criteria.

Choose your first pair that fits your feet, not simply a good pair of shoes
and start running right away with only the gear you need.

What you will gain from this course

Establish criteria for choosing running shoes that fit my feet.

Check your foot type from wet footprints and narrow down the shoe categories that suit your feet. You will develop a standard of looking at your feet's signals before brands and reviews.

Understand cushioning, drop, and sizing, and personally check the five things to look for in a store. Turn differences that are easy to miss when simply trying shoes on into purchasing criteria.

Distinguish between the gear you need now and the gear you can prepare later. Learn how to care for your running shoes and when to replace them, so you can avoid unnecessary purchases and start running right away.

Now you can choose shoes that fit your feet instead of relying on other people’s recommendations.
We’ll provide practical criteria from start to finish so beginner runners don’t put off their first run.

Why an Engineer Who Chased Down Predawn Outages Started by Examining His Feet

For over 20 years, I have operated servers, migrated environments from data centers to the cloud, and handled hundreds of instances and overnight incidents.

When solving a problem, you should establish your criteria before considering the visible options. Running shoes are no exception. Instead of focusing on brands and reviews, check your foot type, cushioning, and size.

A shoe that fits your feet comes before a good shoe.

By examining your feet through wet footprints and checking five things in the store, you can reduce unnecessary equipment purchases.

Check your foot type. Establish the key criteria for your shoes. Inspect them yourself in the store. Choose only the equipment you need right now. Decide for yourself when it’s time to replace them. Now, start by checking your footprint.

Hello, I'm Frank.

I am an infrastructure engineer who has been wrestling with servers for over 20 years. Starting with Linux server operations, I am now in charge of the cloud infrastructure for a large-scale payment service. My daily life involves migrating from data centers to AWS, managing hundreds of instances, and tracing the causes of failures in the early hours of the morning.

The reason I created this course is simple.

I often received questions like these from those around me: "I managed to connect to the server, but I don't know what to do next." "There are so many instance types; which one should I choose?" These are the exact same points where I got stuck at first. However, when I looked for resources, I found that most of them were written for people who already knew what they were doing.

So I decided to create the course I wish I had when I first started learning.

My lectures are based on three principles.

First, I help you understand rather than memorize. Instead of just listing commands, I explain why we use them in the first place.

Second, I boldly omit unnecessary content. I do not increase the volume by including information that is useless to beginners right now.

Third, I also talk about what doesn't work. Instead of just listing the pros, I clearly point out cases where it might not be a good fit. For someone who has to make decisions in the field, that is more important.

If you feel a sense of "Ah, I should start from here" after listening to the lecture, then my goal has been achieved.

Please feel free to leave any questions you may have at any time.
