Explore new graphics possibilities with Unity 6 Shader Graph

Unity 6, which will be released on October 17, 2024, sets a new standard for graphics and performance. In particular, Shader Graph, with its intuitive node-based approach and powerful visual effects creation tools, plays an essential role in maximizing creativity and efficiency in game development.

This course is designed to explore essential graphic effects possible in Unity 6 using Shader Graph, and to teach a variety of practical application techniques.

  • From Basics to Applications : After gaining a clear understanding of the basic usage of Shader Graph and how nodes work, you will learn how to implement unique graphic effects based on it.

  • Focused on practical examples : Learn practical techniques by creating effects commonly used in practice, such as electric effects, glows, and more.

  • Harness the power of the latest Unity 6 engine : By combining Unity 6’s improved rendering engine and Shader Graph, we focus on efficiently implementing high-quality graphics.

This course provides the best learning opportunity for all game developers, from those who are new to Shader Graph to those who want to deeply understand and utilize the powerful graphics creation tool in Unity 6. From technical foundations to creative applications , discover the essence of Unity 6 Shader Graph!

Q. Why should I learn Shader Graph now?

Shader Graph is a powerful tool that can easily implement modern graphic effects, as it is naturally integrated with Unity's Universal Render Pipeline (URP). In particular, URP is provided as the default template for the latest Unity 6 projects , and Shader Graph is the optimal choice for creating high-quality effects using it.

  • Efficient development environment : Shader Graph creates graphic effects based on nodes without code, so you can work quickly and efficiently with URP’s default shader settings. In particular, it provides real-time feedback so you can develop while immediately checking the results.

  • Practical applicability : Various effects such as glow, texture animation, and PBR shaders can be produced in a form that can be used immediately in practice.

  • Future-ready skills : Unity's latest project templates are based on URP, and Shader Graph is the best tool for creating shaders in URP. Learning it will help you create high-quality graphics that keep up with modern game development trends.

This course provides a course to learn Shader Graph from the basics to a level where you can immediately apply it in practice. If you want to create an efficient development environment, now is the best time to start.

[Notes before taking the course]

  1. Unity version: You don't have to prepare the same version as the one used in the lecture, but if possible, please prepare a version later than Unity 6 (Unity 6.xxx or later) that uses Universal RP as the basic template.

  2. Shader Graph: If you have followed the instructions above, there will be no problem, but if the version is not Unity6 or you are taking the course on a project that has not been migrated to URP or HDRP, you must upgrade to URP or HDRP and have the Shader Graph Package installed in the project.

I was looking forward to the first Shader Graph lecture, but it was quite disappointing. 1. It felt like the lecture was prepared on the spot, rather than being prepared in advance. - The voice was shaky (it felt like he was nervous and rushed). - There were meaningless nodes (e.g. uv). - There were cases where nodes were added and then removed. (I understand that nodes are modified to achieve a certain purpose, but there were cases where nodes were added for a long time without any explanation of their purpose and then deleted). 2. Lack of explanation - There was a lack of explanation about why the nodes or combinations of nodes produced such results. 3. Inaccurate terminology - Instead of saying that it is the Y value of a vector, he just explained it as a value. - Instead of explaining normals directly, he talked about them in a long and vague way. - He just said that the formula was difficult. You can get the same results by watching this lecture and following along. However, since there is no explanation about why the results are like that, it will be difficult to apply them.

I learned a lot because you explained it slowly and calmly.
