What you will gain after the course

  • Calculate a realistic target timeline based on losing 0.5 kg per week

  • Understanding the Physiological Mechanisms by Which Rapid Calorie Restriction Leads to Weight Regain

  • Develop environmental design strategies that do not rely on willpower

Topics covered in this lecture

Most diets start to falter after three days, hit a weight-loss plateau after two weeks, and return to square one after a year. This doesn’t happen only to certain people; it happens almost everyone in exactly the same way.

But we always interpret this as a personal problem—as if we simply weren’t determined enough. Once we interpret it that way, there’s only one solution: starve ourselves even harder next time. And then we fall even harder.

This course begins by changing that interpretation. It examines, step by step, how willpower is depleted throughout the day, how the environment is more powerful than willpower, and how the goal itself was designed to fail. Then it calculates in numbers how long losing 10 kilograms actually takes and examines the structure behind why drastic food restriction inevitably backfires.

After completing the lecture,

  • You can reinterpret your failures so far as a structural problem rather than a lack of willpower.

  • You can calculate for yourself the realistic amount of time it will take to reach your target weight.

  • You can explain the five-stage structure by which weight lost quickly comes back.

  • You can divide the major goal of losing 10 kilograms into four stages and set an immediate goal.

  • By the end of the lecture, you will have decided on one environmental change to make today.

Pre-Course Information

  • This course does not include a meal plan. Meal planning is covered in Lesson 3.

  • The recommended rate of weight loss is around 0.5 kilograms per week, and losing 10 kilograms takes 4 to 5 months.

  • If you want to lose weight rapidly in a short period, that does not align with the focus of this course.

  • This is general health management information and not individual medical advice. If you have a preexisting condition or are taking medication, consult a medical professional before changing your diet.

A word from the instructor

It would be helpful to count how many times you’ve started a diet over the past three years. If you had continued each time for just one month, you would already have reached your goal weight by now.

The problem was not the pace, but the stopping. This course is not about how to lose weight quickly, but about creating a structure that helps you keep going.

Hello, I'm Frank.

I am an infrastructure engineer who has been wrestling with servers for over 20 years. Starting with Linux server operations, I am now in charge of the cloud infrastructure for a large-scale payment service. My daily life involves migrating from data centers to AWS, managing hundreds of instances, and tracing the causes of failures in the early hours of the morning.

The reason I created this course is simple.

I often received questions like these from those around me: "I managed to connect to the server, but I don't know what to do next." "There are so many instance types; which one should I choose?" These are the exact same points where I got stuck at first. However, when I looked for resources, I found that most of them were written for people who already knew what they were doing.

So I decided to create the course I wish I had when I first started learning.

My lectures are based on three principles.

First, I help you understand rather than memorize. Instead of just listing commands, I explain why we use them in the first place.

Second, I boldly omit unnecessary content. I do not increase the volume by including information that is useless to beginners right now.

Third, I also talk about what doesn't work. Instead of just listing the pros, I clearly point out cases where it might not be a good fit. For someone who has to make decisions in the field, that is more important.

If you feel a sense of "Ah, I should start from here" after listening to the lecture, then my goal has been achieved.

Please feel free to leave any questions you may have at any time.
