R&D Core Task Series (1): Introduction to Predictive Engineering | Introduction to Systems Engineering | How to Search Academic Papers | Writing for Scientists and Engineers

To solve the problems of 'complexity' and 'inefficiency' commonly experienced by professionals, researchers, and engineers in modern society, I propose practical solutions that I have refined over 40 years of intense field experience at Hyundai Motor Group. 1. The 'Problem' You Face: The Flood of Information and the Cycle of Reactive Firefighting Many students are blocked by the following three barriers: Information Overload and Search Limitations: Unable to identify what is essential among the millions of papers and data published each year, wasting time on search labor. Reactive Work Methods: In manufacturing and design settings, remaining stuck in a 'firefighter' role of finding causes and working through the night to solve problems only after they occur. Breakdown in Organizing Thoughts and Communication: Despite having excellent ideas in mind, experiencing frustration in front of a 'blank screen' due to inability to implement them into systematic reports or logic. 2. The 'Solution' Infused with My Experience: Architect of Systems and Prediction As a 40-year R&D veteran engineer, I will transform your work paradigm from 'reactive' to 'predictive' through a 'practical system' rather than mere theory. ① Optimization of Knowledge Exploration: AI Hybrid Workflow I help you become a strategic researcher rather than a simple searcher. By partnering with comprehensive Google Scholar and Semantic Scholar that penetrates the context of papers, I teach you a 3-step master plan that first sees the forest (big picture) then collects the trees (detailed materials), dramatically reducing research time. ② Innovation in Design Intelligence: Predictive Design and Digital Twin I guide you into the world of 'Predictive Design' that leaves no room for problems to arise. Through DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and DFR (Design for Reliability), you learn how to secure perfect quality from day one of launch.   • Integrated Design: From engines to software, we first draw a 'complete integrated blueprint' to ensure dozens of systems work without conflict.

  • Single Source of Truth: Instead of fragmented piles of documents across departments, MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) is established where everyone collaborates by viewing one living digital model, fundamentally preventing misunderstandings and errors.

It's a technology that predicts the future through a virtual twin that operates 100% identically to the real product.

  • Virtual Testing: Optimize designs by performing thousands of tests in a virtual world without destroying a single real car.

  • Predictive Maintenance: Just as GE saved 2 trillion won in defect costs with digital twins of jet engines, it realizes proactive management at the level of predicting "failure probability within 50 hours" through sensor data.

3.Hybrid Workflow: A Paradigm Shift in Research

It's a knowledge acquisition system that moves beyond simple search labor to utilize AI as a strategic partner.
