Data analysis with Excel?
It's possible using Power Query 😁

Everyone is talking about 'data analysis', 'data analysis'... 👀

We live in a data-driven era, and while the sheer number of tools and methods available can make it difficult to know where to begin, it's often difficult to grasp the specifics of data analysis. Let's explore the most familiar tools: Excel and its friend PowerQuery 📊 .

What is data analysis in Excel? 📈

Learn things like this 💡

Power Query's
Concept and Installation Method

By data type
How to collate and organize data

Making data processing easy
Power Query Features

In a form that is easy to analyze
How to change data

Even reflecting user input
Create a dashboard

Are you worried about this part? 😢

So, I focused on three things! 👈

After listening to the lecture
You can do these things! 💪🏻

  • You can collate and process various raw data types, including data within a sheet, multiple sheets within a specific file, and specific sheets within multiple files in a specific folder. (Data Collation and Processing)
  • Understand pivot tables and configure them for data analysis. (Data Analysis)
  • Understand graphs and slicers, and create dashboards to visualize data (data visualization) .

Summary of the lecture's charm ✨

  • It's so easy that even people who aren't familiar with 'data' or 'Excel' can learn the basic concepts step by step.
  • I keep reminding myself of the 'data analysis process' so I know what stage of work I'm in.
  • The theory is kept to the bare essentials, with a focus on practical exercises. You'll be able to follow the instructor's work closely and manipulate various practice data files. (Theory to Practice ratio = 20:80)
  • At the end, you can review key concepts through a simple quiz!

I recommend this to these people 🙋

  • People who don't know anything about Excel data analysis but want to start
  • Anyone who wants to know the overall structure of collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing large amounts of data.
  • People who often receive work instructions like, "Analyze and report on this data!"
  • I've done data analysis, but I'm worried about 'when will I ever finish this?'
  • A person who runs a product sales business and needs to collect and analyze sales data from various sites.
  • People who use Excel heavily in their work, even if it is not raw data that is continuously generated.

Expected Questions Q&A 💬

Q. Is data analysis only possible with Python?

While data analysis is possible with languages like Python and Java, they're not widely used, so getting started can be challenging. I recommend learning with the mindset that leveraging frequently used tools like Excel and PowerQuery can lower the barrier to entry. "Being within Excel" means you can actively utilize and combine Excel's features and functions !

Q. Is there anything I need to prepare before attending the lecture?

Although Excel's UI may vary slightly depending on the version, it includes all the features necessary to successfully complete this course. However, PowerQuery functionality varies by version, so please refer to the following.

  • PowerQuery is built into Excel 2016 and later. Therefore, we recommend using that version or later to take the course.
  • If you need to install a module program because PowerQuery is not built-in, such as in Excel 2010/2013, please download and install the module program from the official website.
    • First, check the bit of my computer (32 or 64 bit): This PC (My Computer) - Right click - Properties - Check the system type
    • Search for 'PowerQuery Download' on Google and download the PowerQuery program for that bit from the official Microsoft website.

Q. What is the most effective way to take the course?

I think of taking this course as "collecting Lego blocks." When it comes to actual work , the key is to properly assemble these Lego blocks—the functions frequently used in practical work— right?

For those with extensive Excel experience, I recommend going beyond your usual routines, organizing concepts, and combining new knowledge to consider how to apply and implement it . For those unfamiliar with Excel, I recommend following my steps step-by-step as closely as possible.
