XR Interaction Toolkit

This course uses XR Interaction Toolkit to
implement the core workflow of VR game development from start to finish.
From controller interactions, gaze-based interactions, to UI and haptic feedback handling,
we naturally connect all the essential elements needed in VR within a single project,
and build together the foundation to actually start VR development.

VR! It's not difficult at all.

  • VR development is not a complex technology, but rather a process of utilizing well-organized development tools.

  • With XR Interaction Toolkit, core features like controller input, interactions, and UI are provided as built-in structures.

  • If you understand just the core flow, VR development is not much different from traditional Unity game development.

  • VR is not a special domain, but a game development field that anyone can sufficiently challenge.

This is the game we will develop together in this course.

Q. Why VR?

VR is a platform with steadily increasing demand across the game and content market
due to hardware distribution and technology standardization.
Especially as Unity-based development environments have stabilized,
it has become a realistic time for individual developers to take on VR content creation.

Q. Is it okay if I don't know Unity?

This course is not designed for complete beginners,
and you will be able to follow along much more easily
if you have an understanding of Unity's basic usage and structure.
The course is designed for those who are familiar with
basic Unity concepts such as script writing, components, and scene composition.

Q. Do I need a high-spec PC to follow the course?

Technically, a high-spec PC is not absolutely necessary.
However, since the course covers a VR project using 3D models in a URP environment,
it is recommended to have a reasonably equipped PC for smooth practice.
While it is possible to proceed in a low-spec environment, there may be differences in editor performance and work speed.

[Notes Before Taking the Course]

This course was created based on Unity 6000.0.61f1 version,
and proceeds in a URP(Render Pipeline) environment.
XR Interaction Toolkit uses the latest version as of January 2026,
and we recommend using XR Interaction Toolkit 3.0 or higher to smoothly follow the course content..

Additionally, since this course is explained based on the latest Unity development environment,
we recommend using Unity 6 rather than Unity 5.x or earlier versions.
Please note that there may be differences in menu structure or configuration methods depending on the version,
so we recommend taking the course in the same environment whenever possible.

This course is designed to let you experience the overall flow of how VR games are created
by applying Unity-based VR development processes to actual projects.

You will naturally understand the structure of VR development as you implement core elements needed in VR step by step, from controller interactions to gaze-based interactions, UI, and haptic feedback handling.

There may be some shortcomings, but I hope this course will be of some help
in your journey to creating your own VR content.

I sincerely hope that this time of learning together by creating
will be an opportunity to deepen your understanding of VR and Unity development.
