Cracking the Product Designer Portfolio with a Toss-Trained Designer

This is already my second time taking Younghwa's class. The lectures are so engaging that I can always focus and listen quickly! When making a portfolio, I often worry about what kind of content I should write, whether the content is lacking, and if so, what kind of content is lacking. Through this lecture, I was able to get a clue about how to demonstrate problem-solving skills, which are a hot topic these days, in my portfolio! Through the assignments given in class, it felt like a more detailed class because it felt like we were slowly looking back on our portfolios with Younghwa, rather than simply going through the class! I will diligently attend the remaining classes and work hard to create a shining portfolio :) Thank you for the lecture!!

This is my second time taking your lecture! It was so great to see so many examples in the lecture! I think I understand better when I understand through the actual examples you showed rather than just looking at the content. ㅎㅎ I think this lecture will help me a lot in organizing my portfolio. I will continue to revise my portfolio while looking at the lecture materials you shared!! And I really liked the process of thinking about what kind of designer is a good designer. I've always heard people tell me to think about what kind of designer I think is a good person, but I've never really put it into practice. I think I'll be able to use the method you taught me to continue to review my career in the future!

Through the beta lecture, I was able to reorganize my project and polish it so that my problem-solving skills would stand out. I am a new job seeker, and I really appreciated the examples you gave to show me exactly how to write. Why did I hear about this so late when it is such useful information! I think this is a great lecture for a junior designer who is thirsty for growth. I actually felt like a senior designer was giving me advice, and I learned a lot about various knowledge, but I also gained a lot of peace of mind about the anxiety and vagueness about changing jobs, job hunting, and careers. Also, I liked it even more because I went through the process of concretizing abstract concerns throughout the lecture. I have no regrets about completing the course. I will try to use it as much as I can because I studied hard. Thank you for the great lecture.

After listening to the movie's practical lecture, I gained a lot of insight and immediately took the second lecture! I was able to think about what kind of designer I want to be and figure out how to apply to which company to gain the experience I want. This work helped me a lot in setting my portfolio and career direction. ㅜㅜ I had no idea what the problem was with the portfolios I had worked on so far, but after taking the class, I was able to organize the materials I had into small pieces and figure out how to appeal to them, and I was able to approach any task with a problem-solving method through structuring first! I thought this lecture was a lecture that taught me exactly what actions to take more than other portfolio lectures!! I had a lot of mental breakdowns after experiencing my nth failure, but after taking the class, I learned what to do, so I think my anxiety has decreased compared to beforeㅎㅎ He opened a quick session in the Discord room and explained in detail the parts I needed help with, and it was a great help in job hunting!! This is really the best ㅜㅜ I will definitely build the career I want through endless practice!!! Thank you so much! :)

Creating a portfolio by learning from assignments and real cases 😻 I went to an academy that cost over 1 million won to create a portfolio, but I wish I had taken Younghwa’s lecture earlier… Now, I’m going to use what I learned from Younghwa’s lecture to exclude the content that shouldn’t be included in a portfolio and create a portfolio that shows my practical strengths that are necessary for actual applications. I was really touched by the assignments and cases that actual students had done! They pointed out the good points and areas for improvement in the portfolios that each person submitted, which made it easy to understand and really helpful. At the end, I was able to see Younghwa’s portfolio case, so I was able to focus more. They also told me what kind of portfolio is needed to demonstrate the capabilities necessary for practical work and how to redesign an app. The most memorable part was that they made me think about what a good product designer is! They taught me about structuring and how to do it well, which was great. They also introduced the methodologies used by companies I want to go to and taught me what I need to focus on in my practical work, so I’m trying to apply them! Especially, it was awesome because it taught me everything I need to know to survive as a designer, such as portfolio checklists, resumes, coffee chats, brunches, interviews, and career gaps. Thank you, Movie, for always making great lectures 💕!!!

Following the practical lecture, I took the portfolio lecture. I had a lot of concerns about the direction of my portfolio while preparing for a job change, and this lecture scratched my itch. In particular, it was much easier to understand because it explained the parts that I was at a loss about how to incorporate my materials into my portfolio through real-life examples. (I wish there had been at least one case study on a construction project, though haha) At first, I thought I would skip the part where I asked myself, “What makes a good product designer?” because I didn’t have enough time, but after doing it myself, I felt that I had grown a lot compared to before, and I also felt a sense of accomplishment. Through this process, I was able to clarify the purpose and direction of my portfolio more clearly. The lecture was well-organized, so I was able to listen attentively, and I think I am gaining confidence that I can do it, and that it is worth trying. I will diligently listen to the remaining lectures. Thank you for always sharing a lot of insights through great lectures! :)
