Q. Why should I learn Blender?
Blender is a program equipped with a truly diverse range of features, and it's free! It is a great way to experience 3D for the first time when you are wondering if you can actually do well in it. It is also great for learning as a hobby, and I highly recommend it to those who want to create their own animations or videos.
If you are learning for employment, it might be better to learn programs that are widely used in that specific field. It is true that Blender is currently relatively less famous in Korea and is not commonly used in companies. This is perhaps natural since there are existing programs already in use. However, companies using Blender are gradually emerging, and it is already widely used overseas. It is my speculation and hope that the proportion of Blender usage will increase in Korea in the future.
Q. Can non-majors take this course?
Yes, it is possible even if you didn't major in video or design. The most difficult parts of drawing three-dimensional pictures are perspective and shadows. In Blender, perspective is naturally created when you place objects near or far from the camera, and shadows are automatically generated when you add light, so you can create beautiful results even if you aren't good at drawing.
Of course, while there are exceptions like Sculpting or Texture Painting, the modeling and rendering taught in this video are at a basic level, so anyone can do it as long as they follow along diligently and have the will to create!
Q. What materials are needed to take this course?
Computer
I recommend a desktop computer. Please check the link below for detailed recommended specifications. Laptops are possible, but rendering work in 3D requires high graphics card performance, and since Blender uses the numpad (the number pad to the right of the arrow keys) frequently, it may be inconvenient.
Check computer specifications for Blender
Mouse
You need a mouse with a wheel.
Keyboard
As mentioned above, I recommend a keyboard with a numpad.
(Optional) Tablet PC or dual monitor
Since there are many features and you will often need to pause and follow along due to the nature of instructional videos, having these is very useful.
Introductory knowledge for Blender
You need enough Blender knowledge to be able to rotate the screen. If you are truly starting Blender for the first time, this complete basic video for "Blin-is" (Blender beginners) starting Blender for the first time will be helpful.
Q. What makes this course different from others?
The most important aspect I consider is the goal of the lecture: ensuring that anyone who puts in the effort can create a beautiful result. I believe that even if the process is difficult, a satisfying final piece provides the motivation for the next project. Therefore, I put a lot of thought into helping you create something you'd want to show off to your friends, saying, 'I made this!'
3D programs, including Blender, have so many features to learn. If I were to create a tutorial explaining every single one of them, it would be difficult to make any progress. On the other hand, if you just follow along blindly, you end up copying without really understanding what each function does. That's why I designed this course to let you follow along while I briefly explain the underlying principles.
Q. What should I do if I get stuck?
If you get stuck in the middle, it becomes difficult to move on to the next step. Since I understand that frustrating feeling well, my door is always open for questions. For inquiries regarding Inflearn service operations, please use the 1:1 inquiry feature.
