※ Product-specific Cost Calculation
Many of you who run small and medium-sized enterprises or work as cost managers in SMEs are probably experiencing significant difficulties because you cannot perform product-specific cost calculations. (I think this is probably the case for most large corporations as well.)
If you cannot accurately calculate costs by product, problems can arise in pricing decisions for each product, which can also become problematic for implementing the company's (sales, business, etc.) strategies. You need to know the cost of each product to set prices accordingly and execute strategies... If cost calculation by product is not possible, nothing can be pursued accurately. You end up executing strategies almost blindfolded, making success or failure depend almost entirely on luck.
Based on my practical cost accounting experience and studies, I created this Excel file to help manufacturing companies easily calculate product costs using Excel.

※ Structure of this material:
1. Data Preparation for Product-Specific Cost Calculation
1) Sales Performance Summary
- Organized based on quantity × unit price for each product
- Organized based on 6-month, 1-year performance or 1-year plan (recommended)
- Since there can be variations in production volume and costs over a 1-month period, we set a wider range
2) Monthly Cost Breakdown
- Organized based on 1-month average (average of 6-month/1-year performance/1-year plan)
- Because monthly settlements are usually done
3) BOM/Material Cost Organization
- Material cost calculation by part number
- Unit price by raw material part number
- Material costs by product
2. Product-specific Cost Calculation
- Implement cost calculation by product
- Product total quantity-based cost calculation and unit cost calculation
- Approach based on the nature of fixed/variable costs
