This course is based on real production techniques used by a Lead Environment Artist who has worked on AAA titles such as The Division 2 and Forza Horizon 3.
Students will follow a clear, step-by-step process to build a complete environment, from reference gathering to final portfolio presentation.

What You’ll Learn

Section (1): Core Environment Art Workflow

  • Understand the complete environment creation pipeline used in professional game studios

  • Learn how to plan an environment, gather strong visual references, and organize a clean project structure

  • Master blockout techniques and environment layout using Unreal Engine 5

  • Create modular assets that are efficient, reusable, and optimized for real-time engines


Section (2): Materials, Texturing & Unreal Engine Integration

  • Perform UV unwrapping and baking using industry-standard workflows

  • Create procedural materials from scratch using Substance Designer

  • Texture assets with Substance Painter to achieve realistic and unique results

  • Import and configure assets and materials correctly inside Unreal Engine 5

  • Learn lighting, level art, composition, and scene polish for professional-quality results

  • Create decals, vegetation, and ivy using SpeedTree

  • Optimize the environment and prepare portfolio-ready screenshots and videos

  • RAM: 16 GB minimum (32 GB recommended)

  • GPU: Dedicated GPU with at least 6–8 GB VRAM

  • Storage: SSD recommended for faster project loading

  • Clearly structured and logically named lessons

  • Source files included (excluding some Megascans assets and certain foliage resources)

  • Project files, textures, and scene setups used throughout the course
