🎨 Blender Reboot Basic: Restart Blender with AI and a New UI

Hello. I’m Runtime, and for a long time, I’ve connected with my 20,000 subscribers through this YouTube channel by sharing the latest computer graphics news and Blender tutorials, while also sharing the fundamental joy of 3D creation beyond mere technical skills.

Many of you have reached out with questions through comments and messages over the years.

"Runtime, when will you create a Blender basics course?"

I imagine you may have found it puzzling that, while I released courses on Blender Geometry Nodes and Grease Pencil, which may appear quite difficult, I still hadn’t released the Blender fundamentals course that forms the very foundation.

In fact, my position on this was clear.

That was my position: "What would be the point of teaching you a UI that will change in a few years anyway, especially when that UI is currently so difficult to use?" (In that regard, the Geometry Nodes UI was already in a complete form, which is why I released the Geometry Nodes course first.)

Blender became widely known with the release of version 2.8, but from a UI perspective, it still had many areas that needed improvement. While this was not a major issue for existing 3D users, the tool was largely designed from a developer-centric perspective, which could actually discourage beginners from developing an interest in 3D.

However, as the Blender community began receiving serious attention from the global market with version 2.8 and grew explosively over the past seven years, the Blender development team listened to the opinions of a wide range of users and achieved remarkable improvements through continuous updates.

And finally, with Blender version 5.2 as a turning point, we can confidently say that Blender’s UI has matured enough to propose a completely refreshed way of using it.

With the addition of Claude AI collaboration using MCP to further guide you, an ideal environment has now been created where even beginners can focus on essential creative ideas without the pain of rote memorization.

The optimal time has finally arrived for me to present you with a Blender fundamentals course I can recommend.

Even now, two years after the release of my Geometry Nodes course, it continues to be loved because it was designed to focus on the “structural operating principles (the essence)” rather than a list of transient features that change every time.

Whenever I plan a course, I always ask myself: Beyond the 'features that are trending right now,' can it also capture 'the direction Blender will take in a few years'?

This <Blender Reboot Basic> course was also designed according to the same philosophy. Rather than focusing on basic tool usage that is bound to change as versions advance, it was planned with Blender’s development roadmap in mind so that you can adapt flexibly to the many future versions of Blender you may encounter.

🗺️ Why do we need to ‘reboot’ now?

This Blender 5.2 is not merely a version update.

It boldly breaks away from the “unfriendly, complex, shortcut-focused UI” that has troubled beginners for so long, emphasizing next-level usability that you can see and operate intuitively. You no longer need to blindly memorize a dense dictionary of keyboard shortcuts. In the new UI, with its dramatically improved ease of use, the most important thing is for users to define for themselves what they want to accomplish with Blender.

Here, we’ve combined it with the reliable AI assistant Claude MCP as our compass. When you get stuck while working in 3D, encounter an error, or need to perform complex node calculations, you can solve problems by talking with AI instead of struggling alone, and continue to strengthen your individuality through a 'hands-on, self-reliant workflow'.

💡 This course was designed to address what 'conventional follow-along courses' failed to provide.

Most courses teach you how to replicate a specific example exactly. But once the course ends and you’re faced with a blank screen on your own, you can’t take even a single step forward. This kind of learning may provide a temporary sense of accomplishment through imitation, but it fails to develop your problem-solving skills independently, ultimately causing you to lose interest in 3D work itself. To fully enjoy 3D creation, you need to build the solid foundation to learn advanced concepts beyond the basics on your own—not merely the ability to replicate examples.

  • Blender Without Memorization: We help you understand the design philosophy behind Blender 5.2’s UI and develop an intuitive ‘feel’ for using its tools.

  • Creative work without feeling alone: Together with Claude MCP, which finds the answer whenever you get stuck, we’ll equip you with a lifelong self-study weapon.

  • Unshakable foundational skills: By the time you complete this course, you will have the “Blender literacy” to independently interpret and apply even the most advanced YouTube tutorials from anywhere in the world.

The world of 3D is truly vast. Strictly speaking, 3D animators, 3D modelers, and 3D rendering artists know very little about anything outside their respective areas of expertise. Their know-how was part of a highly specialized, segmented pipeline that was rarely shared across disciplines. However, now that we have entered the age of AI, simply generating results that look convincing is no longer enough to remain competitive. Instead, the ability to accurately realize a user’s intent—even in a very simple result—has become increasingly important.

We hope this basic course inspires you to explore the various directions in which 3D can branch out, and that you pursue in-depth additional learning in each field to develop your own unique edge.

Rather than focusing unnecessarily on specific features, this course proceeds by introducing the overall workflow, alternatives, and the areas you’ll need to continue learning in the future to truly develop expertise.

🗺️ The Journey We’ll Take Together

💡 This course is an 'early-bird growth-oriented course' that is updated sequentially to quickly reflect the latest trends.

To ease the burden of a long runtime and save busy creators’ precious time, this course was designed around the essential knowledge needed in practice. While aiming for a [highly concentrated curriculum that minimizes wasted time], the content may be even more substantial and comprehensive in order to fully incorporate the latest 5.2 trends and useful practical tips.

Join a journey where you’ll experience Blender’s appeal in every chapter and maximize your learning satisfaction.

  • Chapter 1. Blender Reboot (Available to enroll!)
