hello,
6th year product designer
This is Kiki

At Class 101, I worked as both a designer and a product manager. Through five resignations, I learned how to grow and develop myself. Based on these experiences, I created a portfolio course .

  • Five successful job changes, 60% increase in final salary

  • Runningan Instagram account for UX, startups, and careers

  • Running a podcast for UX job seekers and those looking to change jobs

  • (Current) Portfolio, 1:1 career coaching, official KAC coach

  • (Former) Class 101 Product designer

The beginning of career branding,
I used LinkedIn.

I started my career at a startup run by a trusted friend. However, I was devastated when the company closed after just seven months. I was 21 years old and didn't know what to do.

Screenshot 2024-09-07 2:59:47 PM

After receiving three more letters of recommendation to resign, I realized , "Oh, I need something to protect me when I leave the company..." I also thought that if I always prepared my documents and exposed myself to opportunities, even if I received another recommendation to resign, it would be easier to find a new job. So I began researching my strengths that would differentiate me and finding ways to attract opportunities.

So, three years ago, I started to seriously brand myself through LinkedIn.

As a result, the article about how I received a recommendation to resign from Class 101 was viewed over 20,000 times and received over 300 likes, which made me feel the power of my own story and brand.

Additionally, despite having been out of the workforce for a year, I am still receiving consistent offers of collaboration and employment through LinkedIn.

Why did you create this course?

Before establishing my current career, I changed jobs numerous times. As a result, my career was often described as "messy," and others saw me as someone who failed at managing their careers. The reason I successfully changed jobs five times and increased my salary by 60% was because I focused on my strengths . However, despite the hard work I put into completing my application, I often experienced rejection due to my high school diploma.

After delving deeper into my strengths and developing a strategy tailored to me, I was finally able to secure a job. This experience taught me that documents aren't everything and that self-marketing is crucial when seeking employment or changing jobs. In this course, I'll help you confidently share your accomplishments and actively appeal to companies.

💬 Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I am a newbie. Can I take this course?

Of course! The newer you are, the more awkward it will be to express yourself and promote yourself. Therefore, learning these skills from a young age will make your job search easier. In particular, the basic career knowledge you gain, such as resume writing, self-introductions, and how to summarize your accomplishments, will be incredibly helpful.

Q. I don't want to reveal that I'm looking for a new job... Can I use LinkedIn? 🥺

I've been asked this question so many times! Don't worry. I've included all the essential tips on how to actively (and secretly) change jobs on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is so fundamental that it's used as a business card in the US, and Korea will likely follow suit. As a working professional, managing and revealing your career is a given, not a mistake. Don't worry too much, just trust me and follow along!

Q. I'm not a designer, I'm a PM. Can you help me?

Yes! This course was designed with IT professionals, including designers, in mind. Two of the seven case studies are from PMs, so it'll be especially helpful to see firsthand examples. Furthermore, the overall course content isn't solely focused on designers; it's designed for professionals contemplating their careers. I'm confident you'll learn a lot from the essentials. :)

Knowing yourself well is essential to do well in everything from portfolios to interviews and salary negotiations 💌 This is a lecture where you can learn everything from A to Z, from how to incorporate branding into your resume, how to incorporate branding into your portfolio, and how to negotiate your salary with branding! I am so grateful that I was able to manage my LinkedIn with the method that Kiki taught me, and after receiving coaching, I was able to receive many job offers and job transfers! I knew that it was important to organize everything in writing, but writing always felt difficult,,, I was able to get great tips on how to write more easily. It was easy to understand and really touched me because you organized real cases as-is / to-be. I think it was helpful because you introduced a list of words that looked elegant and familiar, and I was able to learn how to fix them into better sentences! I especially remember the part where you told me how to find my own state, what my strengths are, and how to differentiate myself. I think I can find my own value and work more happily by organizing the emotions and situations surrounding me! While working as a junior designer, I felt that it was really difficult to appeal my achievements to the company, but I learned a lot by seeing each case and giving advice on how to improve. I plan to prepare for future job changes and salary negotiations with the things Kiki taught me and try to jump my salary! I want to recommend this to all IT professionals because it is a topic that cannot be learned anywhere else. I really sympathized with the part where you said that it is difficult to define and explore myself as a person living in Korea, and I am really grateful that you made this into a lecture! Thank you for making such a great lecture, Kiki 😍

I thought career branding was important, but I only knew vaguely. I read articles here and there and watched short videos. After coming across this lecture, the concepts I knew were only a small part of career branding, and while listening to the lecture, I think I was able to completely organize the concepts of career branding from A to Z. In particular, the parts about LinkedIn, Coffee Chat, and salary negotiations in the latter part were information I had never heard of before, so I was impressed 👍 I think it would be really helpful if I review and organize only the necessary parts of this lecture every time I change jobs. Thank you for making such a great lecture!

After taking this course, my thoughts on career branding have completely changed. I came across this course while I was considering a job change as a product designer, and through this course, I was able to learn how to build myself as a brand beyond simply writing a resume and preparing for an interview. In addition, it systematically covered the entire process of job preparation, including how to write a resume, how to use LinkedIn, and salary negotiation, and provided very practical solutions. In particular, the detailed guide on composing a resume and portfolio was impressive. Instead of simply listing my career, I learned how to strategically highlight my strengths, and I was able to improve my portfolio so that it could demonstrate my problem-solving skills and branding. I also learned how to use LinkedIn as a ‘branding tool’, which was a great help in expanding my network and creating opportunities. I was also able to learn how to confidently approach salary negotiations without fear. Above all, I deeply realized the importance of branding by viewing myself as a brand and delivering a consistent message. I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to brand their entire career!

Ara, thank you for joining us for the second lecture following the first one.. and even for the long review.. Thank you so much..!! ㅠㅠ In fact, I was worried that the students would not understand it well because I included so many concepts. Nevertheless, it was a lecture that had to be filled with information, and I am so happy that you left such a detailed review, so I think what I wanted to say was conveyed well. I am especially happy that you have already taken the entire salary negotiation part! I hope that you will make good use of the content, achieve good results at your current company, and succeed in your salary negotiation. Thank you🌸

Kiki's lecture was very helpful because it explained in detail and in an easy-to-understand manner topics that were difficult to cover in previous lectures, such as career branding, how to write a designer resume, using LinkedIn, and coffee chat, which I was really curious about. In particular, in the career branding section, I got important hints on how to turn my existing experience into a strength, and through this, I was able to set clear standards for what to focus on in my future career! I think that it is more difficult and important to clearly know myself and appeal to it than to work hard and achieve results at the company. Through the lecture, I gained a lot of confidence in this area. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the above topics, not just in the designer job :)

I'm good at catching other people's strengths and advantages, but I had a hard time defining what would appeal to me. Then, as I analyzed Kiki's methods(?), my complicated mind was organized! I thought that she had branded herself with this pattern, and as I followed along, I realized that although there are still many shortcomings, I felt that I had gradually found a way to appeal to myself in a short period of time!! And since this know-how is something that Kiki had innate and came from experience, I think it was very helpful in practice.ㅎㅎ What I was most grateful for was that she explained this story in detail step by step, so I was able to follow along well!

Dobi, thank you for following me from the first lecture to the second. I was so grateful that you actively followed along throughout the beta, and I was truly happy that you reviewed so diligently. In fact, it is not easy to define yourself and continuously refine yourself to make yourself attractive to the outside world, but I was grateful for your passion for taking the class so diligently. You said that you have many shortcomings, but I think that just trying hard is enough to make you perfect. Don't think that you are lacking! I was also able to complete a curriculum that is more helpful to students while working with Dobi. I will continue to cheer you on so that you can freely eat and absorb the skills I have shared with you and create the career you want. Thank you!💙
