Expected Questions Q&A 💬

Q. Do I need to be able to use Unreal Engine?

Yes, basically, Unreal Engine requires proficiency. Experience creating effects with Unreal Engine is a plus.

Q. Is it different from learning by watching Houdini on YouTube?

Many YouTube videos focus on implementation rather than explaining the most important fundamentals. Therefore, if you simply implement the concepts without any foundational knowledge, you'll be completely unable to apply them on your own.

This course provides complete fundamental knowledge so you can study independently. Start with this course and then continue your learning on YouTube.

Q. What exactly is Houdini used for in games? Is it used a lot?

Sources created in Houdini are highly useful in-game.

For example, Houdini is great for expressing blood splatter, the feeling of water or GPU particles scattering, effects of objects breaking or piercing, and tentacle-like expressions.

In particular, Houdini and Unreal are well-integrated these days, and Houdini has many nodes for optimization, so it seems that Houdini's usability will increase further in the future.

Q. Is there any background knowledge I should know before taking this course?

Knowledge of Unreal Engine is essential. A basic understanding of coding will help you learn Houdini more quickly. Of course, this course is designed for those with no prior coding experience.

This course was created for those who have always been interested in creating effects but haven't figured out how to get started, or those who have been hesitant to learn due to the financial burden of tuition. We're rooting for you to create stunning effects for real games!

This is a lecture that really explains the concepts very well. It seems that you know and understand the program so well that I am amazed and envious, and I really want to learn all of it! The only complaint is that when you demonstrate something... the approach suddenly changes during the lecture, or the editing jumps around, so my results that I followed until the middle are different from the appearance demonstrated after the suddenly changed editing point, and there are parts that seem to be missing, which is disappointing. Up until the beginning, it was okay to review or grasp the concept even if the same content was repeated twice, but Section 7 and Section 9 are a bit confusing because the editing suddenly changes. It is a basic lecture, but it seems like it will be more understandable and helpful after watching other basic lectures, so I will watch it again later.
