Learn sound programming used in Unreal
and become a true game sound designer! 🎮

Am I really 'capable of using Unreal'?

When you look at job postings for game sound designers, you'll often see 'Unreal Engine proficiency' listed under preferred qualifications. However, this course was prepared for those who feel frustrated because they don't know exactly how much Unreal knowledge is required to be considered 'proficient,' and because there hasn't been a proper Unreal sound curriculum available.

Having worked as a game sound developer in the industry for over 20 years, I have created a curriculum covering essential skills from basic to advanced levels. After taking this course, you will be fully prepared to become a true game sound expert.

Are you having these concerns?

😭

I'm applying for jobs,
but I don't know why I keep getting rejected.

🥲

The job requirements list Unreal Engine proficiency as a preferred qualification,
but I don't know where or how to learn it.

🤨

I don't know how much I need to study Unreal
in order to get a job.

😯

I am developing a game by myself and want to know and learn
how to create sound.

[Unique Features of This Course]

  • There is no other lecture in Korea or the world that teaches Unreal sound with such a systematic curriculum from basic to advanced levels.

  • A sound director currently working in game sound development has created this course using techniques and examples used in current practical work, rather than the past, to teach you skills that can be immediately applied in the field.

Learning through 5 sections

Section 4 Portfolio Creation Course

Frequently Asked Questions Q&A 💬

Q. I have never used Unreal Engine before; can I still take this course?

Yes, the curriculum is designed in order of difficulty, starting from the installation of Unreal Engine, so you will be able to follow along without much trouble if you take it step by step from the beginning. You just have to dive in! It’s not as hard as it seems once you actually try it, so don’t be afraid!

Q. Why should I learn Unreal Engine to become a game sound designer?

Companies hiring sound developers usually have large-scale games or projects, and most of these major projects are currently being developed using Unreal Engine. Therefore, learning Unreal is essential for getting a job.

If you are applying to a company that develops with Unity, you don't necessarily have to learn Unreal. However, if you eventually want to move to a major company later in your career, you will end up having to learn it anyway. In other words, as your level rises, you are bound to encounter Unreal eventually, so wouldn't it be better to learn it while you're as young as possible?

As you can see from the lecture curriculum, a person who performs various tasks such as applying, operating, and programming sound for games, as well as managing and registering sound data, is called a sound designer. Although the term is "sound designer," in actual field work, most of the tasks are done using Unreal Engine rather than a DAW.

Q. Will taking this course help me get a job at a game company?

Yes, 100%, 1000%, 10000%. Of course, this is on the premise that you already have the necessary game sound design skills.

If two people have similar sound design skills, who would have an advantage in getting hired: the one who took this course and mastered Unreal Engine skills, or the one who didn't?

Conversely, if you were the CEO of a company and paying the same salary, who would you want to work with: someone who only knows how to do sound design, or someone who has similar sound design skills but can also freely direct and express sound in Unreal, implement sound tasks on their own that would otherwise require the involvement of planners and programmers, and enrich sound expression in Unreal by solving technical problems?

📌 Notes before taking the course

This course is not a sound design course about adding sound to video. It is a course for those who know how to do sound design but have no idea how to use Unreal Engine while preparing for a job, or for solo game developers who do not know how to process and apply sound.

Yes, if you study real game sound, you will feel the joy of making sounds in the game as you want when you work hard to program and play the game. In the process, I hope you will learn by creating your own problems and challenging yourself to gradually become more difficult, and enjoying the process itself. If you have any difficulties while studying or want to get a pop-up review related to employment, please send me an email or ask me a question at any time and I will answer you.

I applaud your passion for taking the class 100%. If you organize what you studied well into a project file and open it like you would take it out of the library whenever you need it, you will remember it again. And I think it can be a guide when you get stuck while working on making game sounds with Unreal. ^^
