If you're not a software major, you might feel like you're sailing through a vast ocean, with no one around to turn to for advice or questions. However, if you prepare for employment solely based on your own personal perspectives, it's only natural that you'll fail.
I went through college without ever imagining a career in software development. So, when I was preparing for a software job, I desperately needed information, but I didn't have any seniors or friends to offer advice. This lecture is a text lecture written with the intention of sharing the candid, realistic experiences I experienced during that time. I hope everyone who takes this course will have a smooth job search.
For those of you who feel like you've hit a wall, I hope this lecture will serve as a stepping stone. I've tried to provide a rich guide to job preparation, with a variety of case studies. Don't be afraid of finding a job anymore!
Let me ask you a question.
I can confidently say that this one book will solve all of those problems.
In a world overflowing with job information, I, a former HR professional, will distill only the most important information and present it to you.
I can just provide you with the book. In fact, I've put in so much effort to organize it that it's enough.
But from the perspective of a job seeker, many questions, big and small , arise. I was one of those too.
Feel free to ask any questions! I'll be happy to answer them with all my knowledge and sincerity :)
(I might even give you some information that can't be included in the book...!)
This course focuses more on job-hunting strategies than on developing your skills. It's best to think of it as a solution focused on how non-major job seekers should market themselves and sell their country .
This guy is really talented, so why can't he get a job?
Did you fail because you weren't a SW major?
I'll answer these questions based on my experience and knowledge. The most challenging part of job hunting is actually the psychological aspect. Applying for a position unrelated to your major can be especially challenging, so I wanted to offer some help. I don't want to offer abstract, superficial advice. I'll draw on my own experience and recall my past experience working in HR to distill the essentials into a coherent whole.
'Liberal Arts Student' too
Can I become a developer?
Where do developers start?
What should I study ?
'Large company developer'
How does your day go?
My current development skills are in practice
Can we 'survive' ?
Q. My development skills aren't that great. Can I still apply?
Of course. My book strategically develops the advantages of non-development majors, based on the bare minimum development skills required for application, and then unpacks the job search process based on those strengths. I, too, landed a job with mediocre development skills. While developing development skills is certainly beneficial, I hope you'll view this book as a more objective analysis of your situation and a strategy for making yourself more attractive to companies.
Q. Is this a book that can help me learn algorithms?
No, algorithms are well-organized and well-researched on YouTube and other related sites. My lectures include links to these sites and how to use them. Rather than focusing solely on algorithms, these lectures comprehensively cover the practical aspects you need to prepare for employment, using real-world examples.
Q. What kind of work are you doing now?
Currently, as a data engineer, I am responsible for developing big data-related servers, infrastructure development, pipeline scheduling, and managing mart DBs.
Q. I'm a CS major. Will this help me?
This course focuses on the essentials for non-CS majors applying to software development positions. If you're interested in understanding the challenges faced when applying for positions that don't align with your major or career path, it's worth a read. However, please note that this book wasn't written with CS majors in mind. :)
