This lecture is really helpful for me, a newbie in backend development! I don't think there's any other lecture that distills the essentials so well and makes it easy for even non-majors to understand!

At first, I thought it was too basic, but as I went on, it definitely helped me with the tuning part! After finishing the practice, the teacher extracted only the main points, so I understood it well without any questions. Thank you. I'm going to watch other lectures.

This was a valuable time to think about SQL performance improvement and tuning from various angles! Thank you for the great lecture~!

What you will gain after the course

  • SQL tuning methods that can be applied through self-judgment

  • Practical index usage tips frequently used in the field

  • How to improve MySQL performance

  • Practical Methods for Improving DB Performance

  • How to identify SQL performance degradation factors using execution plans

🤬 Dammit, I can't do this anymore!

My name is Jaeseong Park, and I started my career in development as a non-major, served as a CTO at several companies, and am currently active as an educator. I also had a time when I started development as a non-major and studied MySQL performance optimization.

While studying MySQL performance optimization, there were more than just one or two points that felt difficult. First of all, too many difficult and unfamiliar terms appeared. Since there were so many unfamiliar terms like B+Tree, covering index, full table scan, and random access, I felt a sense of resistance.

I managed to push through that initial resistance and finish reading books on performance improvement, but there weren't many examples of how and in what situations to optimize MySQL performance. As a result, I still didn't know how to actually apply performance improvements to real-world projects.

Since I also went through these difficulties, I decided to create a MySQL performance optimization course that even non-majors can immediately apply in practice.

✨ 4 Key Points I focused on while creating this course

Once you have learned the concepts, you need to experience tuning SQL statements yourself by applying those concepts. To do that, you need enough examples to practice SQL tuning. That's why I have prepared a total of 17 practice exercises.

I have selected only the core concepts strictly necessary for actual performance improvement to teach you. If you know just a few frequently used concepts, you won't have much trouble improving performance. I won't teach you any useless concepts. By learning this way, you can learn very quickly and apply it directly in practice.

I believed that if you couldn't apply what you learned in practice even after finishing the course, it would be a flawed lecture. I tried to structure the course to be practical and immediately applicable to real-world work, rather than taking an academic approach of deep theoretical study.

I won't just explain the theory; I'm going to show you every single step of the performance improvement process using examples. By demonstrating this improvement process, you can easily learn how to improve DB performance in real-world scenarios.

👍 This course is perfect for people like this!

Those who are having difficulty learning
MySQL performance optimization by watching YouTube or reading
blogs

Those who are non-majors and
slow to understand difficult
concepts and terminology

Those who want to directly diagnose inefficient parts of SQL in the workplace and perform performance improvements themselves.

🙊 What will you achieve after completing this course?

You will be able to identify for yourself which factors are causing a specific SQL statement to slow down. Furthermore, you will be able to personally achieve meaningful performance improvements.

Notes

The class proceeds on the assumption that you already have a basic knowledge of SQL. Therefore, I recommend taking this course after learning basic SQL statements. If you encounter any parts you don't understand while studying, please ask questions immediately using the Q&A board or the 1:1 open chat room😊

🚨 Be sure to check what kind of person the educator is!

If you meet the wrong doctor, you may face death because your illness cannot be cured at that moment. However, death ends with the pain of that moment. But if you meet the wrong teacher and receive the wrong education, you will suffer for the rest of your life.

Due to poor education, you may end up at a company you don't want, receive a lower salary than expected, and suffer for the rest of your life as a result. Not only that, but the poor education you received can even be passed down to your children.

I believe that education can change a person's life in a truly positive way, but on the other hand, it can also completely destroy a person's life. That is why I believe education carries such a heavy responsibility.

Therefore, please check who the educator is, what kind of person they are, and what path they have taken, and make a careful decision.

👋 Hello!
I'm finally introducing myself ( ⸝⸝•ᴗ•⸝⸝ )੭⁾⁾

Hello!

I started studying development as a non-major. Somehow, I've already become a developer in my 6th year! Recently, I served as CTO at two companies while working as a developer. Whenever I had spare time, I've been conducting coding lectures, corporate development consulting, and speaking engagements.

The number of students I've taught has already exceeded 24,000 (as of July 2025)! As I feel every time I teach my many students, I can never forget the sense of fulfillment that comes from education, so I plan to continue providing education on Inflearn.
(* Produced successful applicants for Kakao Pay, Yanolja, and Woowa Brothers among students)

Just as I received a lot of help when I was going through difficult and challenging times, I wanted to become someone who could also help many others. Furthermore, I felt the most proud and happy when the value I created through development had a positive impact on other people.

For these reasons, I hope that by giving and sharing what I have worked hard to achieve, those people can live a slightly better life.

Thank you!
