I completed it! Thanks to the instructor's lectures, I think I was able to complete a portfolio project integrating a database by myself! As someone who learned through the instructor's lectures and built a project, I was very satisfied with the course. The explanations were great, and the learning content was well-structured, which was also good! Thank you!
Practical Unity Game Development
Database
Unity C# Programming
Those aspiring to become solo developers or preparing for employment will inevitably encounter challenges and difficulties when learning Unity and game development. Those difficulties will likely involve working with databases and servers.
Those developing games alone naturally need to be able to handle both the client and database sides of a game, and those creating a portfolio for employment also need both a client and a database to raise the quality of their portfolio.
I aim to address that aspect in this course. In particular, when it comes to game development, it is not easy to find learning materials or courses that cover or combine Unity and databases. That is why this course covers Unity and databases together, helping you combine the two to create higher-quality projects.
We will develop using Google Firebase, a service that allows you to conveniently use DBMS/RDBMS.
Learn about while actually creating a project Unity. Through a casual game where you avoid falling snow, you will learn game logic and systems. Unity client development is possible.
You can learn the concept of what a database is in a simple and easy-to-understand way. Before integrating Unity with a database, you will learn the fundamentals, followed by the JSON format.
Unity game project and Firebase DB integration, and learn how to upload, load, and update data through communication between the game and database.
Firebase, a service provided by Google, is a service that lets you borrow a database instead of having to implement one yourself among the various backend services.
It is the most suitable service for solo developers, those creating a portfolio, and those who want to learn about databases. By covering these areas in the course, you can learn through hands-on experience.
When studying game development, most people have to learn how to work with Unity and backend systems such as databases separately. Learning materials are usually provided separately, and there are very few resources or videos that cover both together.
However, these aspects can be challenging for those creating a portfolio or studying to become indie developers. In particular, portfolios and projects that include both in-game elements and a backend have recently become essential.
To address these gaps, Unity and databases together, we have prepared this course. Of course, this course covers the basics of Unity and focuses primarily on databases, but we designed it to help you learn the essential elements of both at once by covering them together.
A laptop or desktop capable of running Unity
This course was created using Unity version 2021.3.22f1, but it can also be implemented in the same way in Unity 6.
