The absolute basics of computer science knowledge
Computer architecture, operating systems, and networks

Computer architecture, operating systems, and networks are subjects that should not be learned separately. Because each preceding concept helps you understand the next, you need to study them in the prescribed order to understand them deeply.

This course follows that flow to accurately organize the core theories, and is designed to help you build a solid foundation through system software, software engineering, data structures, algorithms, and more in the subsequent courses.

[Step 1: Computer Architecture]

Computer architecture can feel dry, and some of its theories may seem disconnected from the present, which can quickly become exhausting. Therefore, this course summarizes the key points based on the 20-year IT bestseller *CODE*, which explores computer principles in an engaging way, and adds concepts that developers and data professionals absolutely need to know.


[Step 2: Operating Systems]

Operating systems are a field I have studied in great depth out of personal interest, and although it is now out of print, I also published a related book. The material is structured to help developers and data professionals clearly understand not only the essential concepts they need to know, but also how those concepts connect to one another, rather than merely listing individual details.


[Step 3: Networking]

For networking, we leave out details unnecessary for developers and data experts, such as coaxial cable sizes, and clearly explain only what you need to know. By showing the actual data being transmitted and received at a low level and explaining the meaning of each piece of data, you’ll gain an intuitive understanding of networking.
