This is already my second time taking Younghwa's class. The lectures are so engaging that I can always focus and listen quickly! When making a portfolio, I often worry about what kind of content I should write, whether the content is lacking, and if so, what kind of content is lacking. Through this lecture, I was able to get a clue about how to demonstrate problem-solving skills, which are a hot topic these days, in my portfolio! Through the assignments given in class, it felt like a more detailed class because it felt like we were slowly looking back on our portfolios with Younghwa, rather than simply going through the class! I will diligently attend the remaining classes and work hard to create a shining portfolio :) Thank you for the lecture!!

Over the course of what has been a fairly long career, I’ve been fortunate to continuously create meaningful digital products, achieve meaningful results, and work as someone who solves problems.

The reason I created this course was that, over the past two years or so, I had the opportunity to work intensively with 130 coaching clients.
I really valued the experience of providing practical help to so many people. Through coaching and working with my coachees, I came to realize that I was able to work successfully as a designer because I had accumulated a great deal of tacit knowledge.
In particular, I talked repeatedly about employment and portfolios quite a lot.
Over the course of four years, I reviewed several hundred résumés. I had many opportunities to interview outstanding designers, and after participating in nearly 100 interviews, I feel that I developed an eye for recognizing who was truly exceptional.
When I showed them how to make it quickly, it was fascinating to see them actually make it much more easily.
Portfolios that demonstrate problem-solving skills are surprisingly difficult to create well, despite their importance. Some companies have even introduced a Problem Solver role, and job postings for all designers and PO/PMs mention "problem-solving processes," yet there are surprisingly few courses that address portfolios demonstrating problem-solving skills from a practitioner’s perspective.
I hope many of you take this course and, through the assignments and self-coaching checklist, gain greater clarity about yourselves and your projects.
If you’ve been working in the field for several years or more, I’m sure you’re solving someone’s problems. I believe that if you can express that well in your own words, you can create a successful portfolio.

It was amazing even to me that, in just three weeks, I was able to establish my own criteria for the direction of my portfolio, and I was truly grateful! What I realized while working on the assignments was that, when organizing portfolio materials, it can be completed more quickly and easily if you organize the writing according to a problem-solving format first and then organize the visual materials! I thought I should structure everything I work on according to a problem-solving format and write it down, and I’ve been putting that into practice little by little. Clearly, keeping records helps me remember the details and has been useful when organizing my materials! Haha
The sense of being so lost when I started as a beta tester seems to have eased a little only after I finished the last lecture. At first, I was full of questions like 'What should I do?', but by the end of the course, I was gradually finding answers like 'Oh, I see, this is how I can try it.' As I repeated the process of defining problems, forming hypotheses, and testing them several times, I eventually gained confidence and was able to feel that I was growing.
I was asked to describe in detail what I did in the project, my interests and methodologies, Slack screenshots, and even who I worked with. As I revisited my hazy memories and organized everything, I had the opportunity to think about which aspects of the project to emphasize and whether it was an appealing project. And once I had organized everything, I was able to easily organize the order (priorities) of my portfolio, and this project helped me a lot in establishing criteria for which aspects to highlight as my strengths!
I find that I understand things better when seeing real-world examplesrather than just listening to explanations. It was also great to be able to look at other people’s assignments and see the feedback!

I think this is a great lecture for a junior designer who is thirsty for growth. I actually felt like a senior designer was giving me advice, and I learned a lot about various knowledge, but I also gained a lot of peace of mind about the anxiety and vagueness about changing jobs, job hunting, and careers. Also, I liked it even more because I went through the process of concretizing abstract concerns throughout the lecture. I have no regrets about completing the course. I will try to use it as much as I can because I studied hard. Thank you for the great lecture.
