🎨 Blender Reboot Basics: Restarting Blender with AI and a New UI

Hello. I’m Runtime, and for a long time I’ve connected with my 20,000 YouTube subscribers by sharing the latest news about computer graphics and Blender tutorials, while also sharing the fundamental joy of 3D creation beyond mere technical skills.

Over that time, so many of you have reached out through comments and messages.

"Runtime, when will you create a Blender fundamentals course?"

I imagine you may have found it puzzling that, while I released seemingly more advanced Blender Geometry Nodes and Grease Pencil courses, I still hadn’t released the Blender fundamentals course that forms the very foundation.

In fact, my position on this was clear.

"What would be the point of teaching you a UI that will change in a few years anyway, especially when that UI is still extremely difficult to use?" That was my position. (In that regard, the Geometry Nodes UI was already in a completed state early on, which is why I released the Geometry Nodes course first.)

Blender became widely known to the public with the release of version 2.8, but from a UI perspective, it still had many areas that needed improvement. While this was not a major problem for existing 3D users, it could actually diminish newcomers’ interest in 3D, as the tool was largely designed from a developer-centric perspective.

However, as the Blender community began receiving serious attention from the global market with version 2.8 and grew explosively over the past 7 years, the Blender development team listened to feedback from a wide range of users and achieved remarkable improvements through continuous updates.

And finally, with the release of Blender version 5.2, we can confidently say that Blender’s UI has matured enough to offer a completely revamped way of using it.

With the addition of Claude AI collaboration using MCP to further guide you, an optimal environment has now been created where even beginners can focus on essential creative ideas without the pain of rote memorization.

The perfect time has finally come to introduce you to a Blender fundamentals course that I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Even now, two years after my Geometry Nodes course was released, it continues to be well-loved because it was designed to focus on the “structural operating principles (essence)” rather than a list of fleeting features that change every time.

Whenever I plan a course, I always ask myself: Beyond the 'features that are trending right now,' can it also capture 'the direction Blender will take several years from now'?

This <Blender Reboot Basics> was also designed according to the same philosophy. Rather than focusing on simple tool usage that is bound to change as versions advance, it was planned with Blender’s development roadmap in mind so that you can adapt flexibly to the many future versions of Blender you may encounter.

🗺️ Why should we ‘reboot’ now?

This Blender 5.2 release is more than just a version update.

It boldly breaks away from the “unfriendly, complex, shortcut-driven UI” that has plagued beginners, and emphasizes an unparalleled level of usability that you can see and operate intuitively. You no longer need to blindly memorize a dense dictionary of keyboard shortcuts. In the new UI, with its dramatically improved ease of use, the most important thing is for users to define for themselves what they want to accomplish with Blender.

We combined it with Claude MCP, a reliable AI assistant, as your compass. When you get stuck while working in 3D, encounter an error, or need complex node calculations, you can avoid struggling alone and solve problems by talking with AI, strengthening your individuality through a “hands-on self-reliant workflow”.

💡 This course was designed to address what “conventional follow-along courses” have failed to provide.

Most courses teach you how to replicate a single specific example exactly. But once the course ends and you’re faced with a blank screen on your own, you can’t take even a single step forward. This kind of learning may provide a temporary sense of achievement through imitation, but because it fails to develop your ability to solve problems independently, it ultimately has the downside of making you lose interest in 3D work itself. To fully enjoy 3D creation, you need to build strong foundational stamina—not the skill to replicate examples, but the solid ability to learn advanced techniques beyond the basics on your own.

  • Blender without memorization: We will help you understand the design philosophy behind Blender 5.2’s UI and develop the ‘intuition’ to use its tools intuitively.

  • Never create alone: When you get stuck, Claude MCP will always help you find the answer, giving you the lifelong 'weapon of self-study'.

  • Unshakable fundamentals: Once you complete this course, you will have the “Blender literacy” to independently interpret and apply even the most advanced YouTube tutorials from anywhere in the world.

The world of 3D is truly vast. Strictly speaking, 3D animators, 3D modelers, and 3D rendering artists know very little beyond their respective areas of expertise. These were their own specialized know-how, which was not easily shared within the highly compartmentalized pipeline systems of the past. However, now that we have entered the age of AI, it has become difficult to remain competitive by simply generating plausible-looking results. Instead, the ability to accurately bring a user’s intentions to life has become important, even when creating very simple results.

We hope this introductory course inspires you with the various directions in which 3D can branch out, and that you pursue in-depth further study in each field to develop your own unique edge.

Rather than focusing unnecessarily on specific features, this course will introduce the overall workflow, alternatives, and the areas you’ll need to continue learning in the future to truly develop expertise.

🗺️ The Journey We’ll Take Together

💡 This course is an “early-bird growth course” that is updated sequentially to quickly reflect the latest trends.
