Policy changes of LLM companies and the going-crazy API market
Hello, this is Weekend Coding.
While filming the Claude layer, LLM companies are undergoing massive policy changes.
I will introduce the most recent policy changes from zai and outline the future direction of the lectures.
1. It won't be easy! Only our own tools are allowed! — Anthropic's blocking history

In January 2026, Anthropic began technically blocking the use of Claude subscription OAuth bypasses by third-party tools like OpenCode, and in February, they formalized this through documentation and policy.
Starting April 4th, third-party usage has been separated from the subscription limit and transitioned to a separate pay-as-you-go billing system called "Extra Usage." This means that to use it on other platforms like Claws, you must pay a separate fee for additional usage.
(Tools like OpenCode spread by using Anthropic account logins and OAuth tokens to bypass and utilize Claude Code subscription limits; particularly from late 2025, as these methods became widely known, it was evaluated that usage volume became excessive relative to the cost.)
Boris Cherny, the lead developer of Claude Code, commented on this as follows.

— " Subscriptions were not created to be used for those kinds of third-party patterns. "
In contrast, their competitor OpenAI hired the developer of OpenClaw, and
Official support for OAuth-style login has been added.
OAuth login is the process where we log in to ChatGPT and exchange token values to confirm that the login was successful.
I, who initially used Claude through Oh-my-opencode, have used Claude in various ways, and now I have reached a point where I need to use pay-as-you-go APIs in a different manner.
With the thought, "Do I really need to stick to just one LLM API?"
I have switched to the Zai coding plan and am currently using it.
2. Do not use it for purposes other than coding! — Changes to Zai's GLM Coding Plan
However, a week ago, a post like this appeared on Reddit.

Warning: Z.AI Coding Plan Policy Change
If used for purposes other than coding, heavy temporary rate limiting (throttling) will now be applied, and three or more violations may lead to a permanent account suspension.
Model Information
If you are planning to purchase or renew a Z.AI coding plan for purposes other than coding, please do not do so.
The usage policy has been updated.
The recent 1302 and 1303 rate limit errors are related to this change. Now, usage unrelated to coding may trigger a temporary but strict rate limit,
and if such violations accumulate 3 or more times, your account may be permanently banned.
ZAI (Zhipu AI) has also stepped forward to block non-coding uses, perhaps because they felt that computing power was lacking due to purposes other than coding.
Upon checking, it has been confirmed that the official wording has indeed changed.

But ironically, GLM supports the Turbo model,
They are introducing this as the most suitable model for the Claws format.

While asserting that purposes other than coding are blocked when subscribing to the coding plan,
At the same time, it supports models optimized for agent forms other than coding.
So, first, regarding Claws, while I will show the method of connecting to the recently filmed GLM Coding Plan,
At the same time, I also plan to include in the video which API is being used in Claude.
The world is changing rapidly.
It is also said that developers who were laid off due to AI are being rehired as LLM token costs increase.
Because too many people are using tokens indiscriminately
It seems the companies managing the models are also busy making changes.
Against companies that suddenly change their policies after taking money from consumers,
along with the thought that I wish someone would file a lawsuit on my behalf,
I will do my best to create the lectures.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Weekend Coding.
