A look at the 3DS MAX viewport and interface

Starting with an overview of 3D modeling, we will learn about modeling methods such as polygons, NURBS, and NUMS, and familiarize ourselves with 3D modeling by checking out the 3DS MAX interface.

Making a plate

Convert basic shapes to polygon mode and edit them to create shapes. Edit even the smallest details to enhance the final product.

Making a cup

Just like making a plate, let's create three different types of cups by converting the basic shapes to polygon mode.

Character Mapping

Complete the character by modeling the character's upper body and head, and then creating and modifying the arms, legs, hands, hair, etc.

Q. Can I take the course even if I have never used 3ds Max before?

This course covers the basics of 3ds Max, making it suitable for beginners with no prior experience. It focuses on beginners who are just getting started or have struggled with the basics, so it focuses on the most basic functions and provides ample practice to achieve complete results.

Q. What level of content is covered in the class?

Since it is centered around beginners who are just starting out or beginners who have given up due to difficulties, it is structured so that beginners can sufficiently practice and produce complete results by focusing on the most basic functions, and does not go into the technical aspects in depth.

Q. Can I also learn about the functions of lights and cameras, as well as advanced features of materials?

Since we will only be modeling and mapping using the lights and camera states provided by default in 3ds Max, we will not cover the content of your question.

  • This tutorial uses Autodesk 3ds max 2022 version .
  • For mapping work, you can use any drawing tool you are comfortable with, regardless of the Photoshop version.
  • As a learning resource, we provide a final practice sketch image to follow along with.
