Exploring the 3DS MAX Viewport and Interface

Starting with an overview of 3D modeling, we will explore modeling methods such as Polygon, NURBS, and NURMS, and get accustomed to 3D modeling by checking the 3DS MAX interface.

Making a plate

We will convert basic shapes into polygon mode and create forms through editing. We will also improve the quality of the work by editing even the smallest details.

Making a Cup

Just like making a plate, we will convert basic shapes into polygon mode to create three different types of cups.

Character Mapping

Model the character's upper body and head, then create and modify the arms, legs, hands, and hair to complete the character.

Q. I have never used 3ds Max before; can I still take this course?

This course starts from the very beginning of 3ds Max. Therefore, even those with no prior experience can take it. Since it focuses on absolute beginners or those who have given up after starting due to difficulties, it is structured to help beginners achieve complete results through sufficient practice of the most fundamental functions.

Q. At what level will the class content be conducted?

Since the course is centered around beginners who are starting for the first time or those who have stopped after the introductory level due to difficulties, it is structured so that beginners can produce a finished result through sufficient practice of the most fundamental functions; therefore, it does not cover technical aspects in great depth.

Q. Can I also learn about light and camera functions, as well as advanced material features?

Since we focus solely on modeling and mapping using the default light and camera settings provided by 3ds Max, the topics mentioned in your question will not be covered.

  • In this course, we use Autodesk 3ds Max 2022 version.
  • For the mapping process, you can use any version of Photoshop or any drawing tool you are comfortable with.
  • As learning materials, the final sketch images for the follow-along practice are provided.
