What you will gain after the course

  • XR Content Development Using Unreal Engine and Meta Quest 3

  • Project design utilizing hand tracking

  • Developing XR sports game logic that reflects real-world physics laws

  • Packaging XR Content (Creating an App)

  • How to manipulate virtual reality with bare hands (I/O)

Following Apple and Meta, even Google and Samsung have jumped into the XR and immersive content market...

Should we just sit back and watch with our hands tied?

The solution to the rapid changes in the content market is a quick response.

This course covers everything from how to connect Meta Quest 3 to Unreal Engine 5.4 to files that must be set manually because plugins are not yet fully established, Meta's middleware and valid XR plugin settings within Unreal Engine, and the unique highlight of this course: the XR table tennis game development logic and packaging (app build) process.

As you take the course, you will examine the principles of how Unreal Engine's logic operates on Meta Quest and create your own projects by applying the logic you've learned. Through this process, you will explore essential elements for XR content creation that can only be understood through experience, such as input/output in virtual reality, UI design based on the characteristics of XR devices like Meta Quest, and hand-tracking input/output (I/O) settings for manipulating virtual spaces with bare hands.

At the end of each course, a challenge is presented to apply what you have learned. Through these challenges, you will gain hands-on experience by directly using the knowledge acquired in each lecture.

With just this one lecture, let's take it all the way to the pre-distribution stage!

Why sports games, and table tennis in particular, are the perfect answer for studying XR.

This is because it is the optimal learning material to most intuitively experience the essence of XR development—from interaction, physics, and input control to tunneling issue management.

Sports games, especially table tennis, are the most ideal subject for learning XR content development. Table tennis is not just a game of hitting a ball back and forth; it is an optimal learning topic for XR because it utilizes all the core elements of XR, including interaction, physics, and input/output device control.

  1. Application of Physical Laws: Implement a highly immersive XR experience by applying real-world physical laws such as ball speed, gravity, restitution, friction, and collision.

  2. Precise Input/Output (I/O) Data and Utilization: It requires a process of detecting subtle movements, such as hand tracking from motion controllers and racket speed, measuring them numerically, and reflecting them in the game. Since a table tennis game demands these conditions, the experience of meeting these requirements allows you to directly verify the operating mechanisms, possibilities, and limitations of XR devices.

  3. Spatial Immersion: Since the game progresses through the interaction of the ball, racket, and player within a space, you will learn how to design natural user positioning and movement, as well as immersive experiences.

  4. System Integration Skills: By designing a sports game, you can directly experience how various technical elements—such as game logic, physics, graphics, input tracking, and even AI table tennis bots—are combined within a single game.

  5. Visible Feedback and a Sense of Accomplishment: Users ultimately learn rules and find enjoyment in content through the action->reward pattern. The same applies to us as developers. By creating clear outcomes—hitting the ball, it bouncing, and scoring points—you can gain a solid sense of accomplishment that "the XR content I made actually works," along with the fun derived from systemic rewards.

Therefore, even if you are not interested in sports or table tennis, a table tennis game serves as the optimal XR learning tool and the best way to enjoyably master the core of XR content development.

From basics to practice to XR app building, the entire process of XR development in one course!

Students will learn the following methods step-by-step, concisely acquiring only the core technical knowledge related to XR development.

📚 Step-by-step Practice

Step 1: Mini-Game Production
- Briefly learn about UI, interaction, and XR device considerations through a brick-throwing XR game.

Step 2: Creating a Sports Game (Table Tennis)
The main mission of this course!

- Logic development applying the instantaneous movement (angle) of the wrist
- Logic development utilizing the impact speed of the table tennis ball on the racket
- Implementation of a table tennis ball considering the friction coefficient and mass of the ball
- Design of an opponent AI table tennis bot

Focusing on the points above, we will balance the physical laws of the real world with the specific characteristics of Meta Quest 3 and Unreal Engine to ultimately complete the XR table tennis game system.

🛠️ Practical XR App Implementation Experience

By assembling and applying the features they have learned, students will gain practical development experience in creating their own XR content, going beyond simple imitation.

🚀 Your very own XR app at the end of the course!

Unlike other VR courses that end with simply connecting and running an XR program developed on a PC to Meta Quest, this course is different!

→ In this course, you will even learn how to build (package) your project into a standalone XR app for Meta Quest 3.

In theory, the built .apk file (XR app) can be submitted for review to the Meta Store, and once it passes the evaluation, the XR app will be released on the store. In other words, building and testing the developed content is essential for release. However, XR content developed with Unreal has very different environments and conditions compared to PC or mobile, so without prior knowledge or experience, it is very common for builds to fail with a flood of crashes and errors.

To help solve these problems, in this lecture, the instructor will reveal the optimal XR app build recipe, compiled by personally tackling and finding solutions to each critical error! Learning just this will make the course fee well worth it.

This XR development course is a long-term project that has been under research and development for over two years, starting from the moment I received the Meta Quest 3 as the first batch in Korea through pre-order. While conducting offline lectures at educational institutions including Hongik University, Sejong University, and the Chamber of Commerce, I have refined this course by integrating cold, anonymous evaluations from actual students with no personal ties, as well as the knowledge, experience, and techniques of developers and experts in various fields. However, I realized that there are no online courses that properly and comprehensively teach XR content development, and because related technical materials and terminology change or update so frequently, the accessibility and reliability of technical knowledge are significantly low. Furthermore, while companies like Meta and Unreal Engine are releasing new products almost every day, existing courses cannot keep up with that pace, often leaving learners unable to acquire the necessary knowledge.Consequently, there was a problem where even experts had to spend a considerable amount of time and money to carry out XR content production projects using the latest devices. I developed this online course to solve these issues. Through this course, I aim to reduce the trial and error you would experience due to materials that are unclear or outdated and no longer work, as well as the time and cost you would otherwise spend searching for information, deciphering original technical documents, and testing and verifying everything yourself. I hope this course, which is difficult to find anywhere else in Korea or abroad, serves as a stepping stone for you to climb faster and higher.

VR installation is already available on YouTube (which is the core starting point of this course), and most of the rest of the process consists of explaining blueprints. In the follow-along section (creating a table tennis game), I eventually gave up because it was impossible to follow. (The issue: I applied Physics Simulate and Physics Material, but an error occurred stating that the physics simulation and collision settings were incompatible. The error was only resolved after I changed the Sphere's collision preset, but I couldn't find any explanation in the lecture regarding that specific setup process or the possibility of such an error.) Ultimately, I realized the instructor was recording continuously while checking if things worked as they went... but even so, there shouldn't be any jumps. There are occasional jumps here and there, and it's annoying to have to pause at those exact moments. Conclusion: I gave up on following along and switched to another video. I thought about watching only the parts I might need in the future... but looking at the 12-month enrollment period just makes me laugh.

Hello. I have noted the difficulties you experienced during the practical exercises. As you are using unfamiliar tools, I fully understand the frustration you felt during the learning process. However, I would like to clarify a few points to avoid any excessive misunderstandings. [Conflict Issues in Physics Simulation] When producing the lectures, I verify that every part functions correctly before filming. Since this course is aimed at those with at least a beginner level of knowledge in Unreal Engine, I do not include every single parameter, setup process (such as collision preset settings), or every possible error scenario in the videos. For other individual roadblocks, I provide direct answers through the community (YouTube or Inflearn Q&A). [Regarding the Enrollment Period] Currently, the enrollment period for this course is unlimited. I had previously limited the period intending to update the course in response to the release of the next Meta Quest version, but since that timeline is uncertain, I have removed the time limit so that you can continue to refer to it. [Public Disclosure of Device Connection Methods] The device connection method you mentioned as the "installation method" is available as a preview for this course and is not the core content. The core of the course lies in the VR app development -> packaging procedures and know-how; there are no instances of selling free videos uploaded to YouTube as paid content. This course is designed to contribute to students by building the entire production path from a blank project to VR app packaging, allowing them to experience various trials and errors both directly and indirectly. However, it seems I have caused discomfort to user "Daechi-dong UP" instead. Since this course is for unlimited lifetime ownership, I believe you will be able to acquire technical knowledge much more smoothly if you challenge it after sufficiently solidifying your basics through freely available lectures. Thank you for sharing your opinion.
