[News] Claude Sonnet 5.5 has been released. (+ Claude Code study registration closing soon)

Hello, students :)

On September 28, Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5. If you’re currently using Claude Code, this is an update worth checking out, so we wanted to share the news.

According to Anthropic, Sonnet 5.5 generates responses more than 30% faster than the previous Sonnet 5, while the cost of handling the same tasks has been reduced by up to 30%. They say it has also improved at working with documents, slides, and spreadsheets—not just coding.

That doesn’t mean you need to switch every task to Sonnet. Anthropic also explains that Opus 5.5 is stronger for complex, open-ended tasks that require extended reasoning. It may be easiest to notice the difference by directly comparing Sonnet 5.5 on everyday code edits or tasks with clearly defined scopes.

Try running a task you frequently used before under the same conditions. Looking at not only the quality of the output but also the number of revisions and the speed of the work will help you choose a model.

You can find more details in the official Anthropic announcement.

(+Additionally, the Claude Code study deadline from the recent news announcement is in two days! For details, please refer to the notice for previous students.)

I’ll be cheering you on throughout your learning journey. I look forward to bringing you more useful news next time. Thank you!
