Sanghoon Han's guide to using 'Claude Code'

This course is designed for developers who are using Claude Code but currently only at a basic level, similar to interacting with a chatbot. It focuses on explaining the core principles and conceptual understanding necessary to use Claude Code effectively.

To think I can listen to a world-class developer's top-tier lecture from the comfort of my own room... This is the best lecture for learning the fundamentals of utilizing AI and Claude Code!!! Thank you for the lecture. Thank you, Inflearn, as well.

I was wondering how to approach development with Claude, so thank you for helping me find the right direction.

What you will gain after the course

  • A complete understanding of what it means to use Claude Code effectively.

  • Accurate usage of AI tools

The ability to write good code is no longer the bottleneck. The bottleneck is the ability to command.

Using the same tools and the same models โ€” some people produce ten times the results, while others say, "I tried it, and it wasn't that great." That difference isn't about skill; it's about the paradigm. This course is about changing that paradigm.

This course is not a tutorial on how to use the tool.

You can finish learning how to use Claude Code in a single day just by reading the official documentation. A few commands, a few shortcuts. Those are not things to be taught, but things to get used to.

This lecture addresses different questions.

  • Why do even the most competent developers crumble before agents? And which habits become toxic?

  • What is the real reason why an AI Agent "suddenly becomes stupid" and "forgets the rules mentioned earlier"?

  • How to turn vague requirements into actionable specifications

  • When, how, and to what extent should you trust the code created by an agent?

  • And โ€” how to build a development system that runs even while I sleep

Tools change constantly. This lecture is built around the things that remain even when tools change: the structure of agent loops, the economics of context, and the principles of delegation and verification. It explains the principles, not the versions.

Why now

In an era where the cost of generation has dropped a hundredfold, value pools at the bottlenecks. The bottleneck has already shifted from "the speed of writing code" to "the speed of making written code trustworthy." Even if you can create twenty PRs a day, if you can only verify three, that team's productivity is three.

Therefore, the truly scarce skills in this era where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used in every industry are three-fold: the ability to turn requirements into specifications, the ability to manufacture trust, and the ability to design systems. The curriculum of this lecture covers exactly those three things.

What is different

1โƒฃ Opening the black box

How the agent loop runs internally, where tokens are leaking, and why context is both an asset and a liability. Those who understand the structure don't just click "retry" when results are strange; they perform a diagnosis.

2โƒฃ Do not hide the flaws of the methodology

Spec drift, over-specification, and the issue of agents cheating on tests. We start with an autopsy of the failure modes that everyone else hides when selling a methodology. Only those who understand the drawbacks can use a methodology for the long term.

3โƒฃ Once the lecture ends, the system remains

Everything you learn is provided as tangible assetsโ€”from interview commands that force requirement refinement, spec generation and comparison commands, to automatic formatting, risk blocking, and commit gate hook settings, agent team definition templates, and PR auto-review workflows. The goal is installation, not just completion.

Curriculum โ€” The Nine Gateways

  • Part 0. Paradigm โ€” From Coding to Conducting: Five toxic development habits, the three skills of delegation, context, and trust

  • Part 1. Anatomy of the Agent Loop: The Three Phases of the Loop, Tools as Contracts, Economics of the Context Window, Life Cycle of a Session

  • Part 2. Context Engineering: The philosophy of CLAUDE.md, memory hierarchy, the art of subtraction โ€” why the creators deleted 80% of the system prompt

  • Part 3. Spec-Driven Development: Interview patterns, how to properly use Plan Mode, the lifecycle of a spec, and failure modes

  • Part 4. Tool Extension: Commands, Hooks, MCP โ€” From a tool user to a tool maker

  • Part 5. Skills and Subagents: Progressive Disclosure, the Invention of Isolation, Division of Labor among Explorer, Implementer, and Verifier โ€” Agent Organization Design

  • Part 6. Headless and Automation: Design for replacing three human roles (instruction, approval, and monitoring), CI review bots, goal loops, and the safety of unmanned operations

  • Part 7. Large-scale Codebase Practice: Legacy Excavation, Surgical Discipline, Monorepo Strategy, and Unedited Live Session

  • Part 8. Verification and Quality: The Trap of Plausibility, The Resurrection of TDD, Triple-Layer Review Nets, Audits and Post-mortems โ€” The Recipe for Trust

  • Part 9. Epilogue: Higher-order systems using Claude Code as a component, Harness Engineering, and the next form of the development profession

Who is this course for?

Beginners โ€” Believe only half of the saying "You don't need to know development anymore." To make an agent work, you need an eye for reading plans and an eye for spotting anomalies. This course presents a new learning path to cultivate those eyes by interrogating the agent's outputs.

Intermediate Developers โ€” the most advantageous yet most precarious position. Since you already have the eye for reading code, applying this system will immediately turn you into a conductor. Conversely, if you delay the transition by tying your identity solely to "manual coding skills," the expertise left behind as bottlenecks disappear will lose its value the fastest.

Team Leads and Organizations โ€” Do you need to boost work productivity? Operating agents is essentially organizational design. Units of delegation, separation of authority, independence of audits โ€” the experience of organizing people becomes leverage in the era of agents, and the experience of designing agent organizations changes how you view human organizations.

This is not recommended for the following people โ€” Those looking for a "magic prompt" to copy and paste, or those who believe they only need to know the location of tool buttons. Since this lecture is about changing the order of your thinking, official documentation would be faster for those purposes.

Overall, it focuses heavily on the introductory aspects. There are many explanations regarding concepts and purposes, such as MCP, agent operation, SKILL, and Hook. How to actually apply and test these remains a challenge for me. The practical examples and the specific areas I was aiming for are quite lacking. I think it might be a bit difficult for beginners to follow.

I don't usually reply to course reviews, but I am leaving a response because this is actually a very accurate review. As I mentioned in the first lecture, this course is not for those with absolutely no experience, but rather for those who have hit a plateau. For complete beginners, I recommend taking a course that explains the very basics instead of this one. Thank you for your honest review.
