I was going to try participating in the challenge even if it was expensive, but since this one includes Unreal, and I'm planning to focus on Unity, I'll have to consider it when a Unity challenge comes out next time.

A Game Developer's Guide to Preparing for the Age of AI

I created a portfolio just as the academy taught me...
But in reality, I can't even pass the entry-level document screening.
This makes sense because the situation has changed significantly due to the introduction of AI
and the internal development processes in the gaming industry are also changing extensively.

Moreover, this is not a phenomenon limited to just one field.
This is a reality that equally applies to all job categories including business/planning/art/programming/QA/PM, etc.
What is happening here?

So how should job seekers in each field wisely plan their study strategies?
We've prepared a live seminar on AI-related topics.

This live session will be conducted experimentally using Inflearn's new [Live Broadcast] feature
If there are issues with [Live Broadcast], we'll proceed on Discord as usual.

We cover topics like this

  1. What job positions are there in the gaming industry??

Let's explore the process of game development.
Let's learn about the traditional job roles (Business/Planning/Art/Programming/QA/PM).

  2. What were they originally doing?

We'll learn about task assignment and collaboration in traditional job functions.

  3. What has changed with the introduction of AI?
The development process is completely changing due to the introduction of AI.
Let's understand what people actually think in the field,
and explore the perspectives of small to medium-sized companies and large enterprises.

  4. Why does my portfolio lack distinctiveness?

Game academies are still teaching in the same way they did before the AI era.
Let's think about what the current problems with portfolios are.

  5. So what should I do?
Let's think together about short-term and long-term directions.

  6. Appendix: Description of the Rookiss AI Creative Challenge Course
This is an explanation of the newly implemented challenge cohort system and its outcomes.

Introduction

I started game development out of pure curiosity to study hacking...
and as time passed, I have somehow become a 10th-year game developer.
"When will I ever finish making a game at this rate?"
Starting from basic grammar that makes you sigh,
to gradually building my own game world.
And the sense of pride when seeing many players connect to that world.
The more I study, the more I cannot escape the charm of MMORPGs.
I hope you can feel the same inspiration that I felt.

I wanted to prepare for a programmer position, but I couldn't bring myself to start preparing due to a vague sense of anxiety (I don't have enough time to dive deep into coding tests, and I don't have the talent either...). However, after watching this seminar, I think I'm getting a sense of how to plan moving forward! Thank you for sharing such valuable insights for free.
