🎯We need to expand into Japan as quickly as possible!

Now they say that overseas business is essential for startups. Especially as the Japanese government has been promoting startup development more actively, many companies have been aggressively jumping into Japanese business since 2022.

Surprisingly, in the context of "preparing to enter Japan" and "early Japanese business development," I discovered over the course of 2 years meeting with about 150 companies entering Japan that everyone had similar concerns. Despite high interest in Japanese business know-how, it wasn't being shared well, and because each company's situation was different, it was difficult for strategies to translate into action. I felt the same way every time. I was at a loss about how to conduct business in Japan and had no choice but to learn by trial and error. The thirst for reference materials led me to create a Japanese business newsletter, which further became the driving force behind creating this course.

Through the essential points of Japanese business, covering IT, B2B, B2C, and consumer goods sectors, we provide explanations to 10 frequently asked questions about Japanese business to help design an initial Japan market entry roadmap and provide actionable plans that can be utilized in the field as assignments to establish a foundation for concretizing early-stage Japanese business development.

*All questions used in the lecture have been approved for use within the course content and have been anonymized.

Instructor Introduction

Hello. This is Jin from Crossborder, a Korea-Japan IT startup

I am a 14-year veteran in Japanese business development and operate Haje Co., Ltd., a Korea-Japan IT cross-border company.

So far, I have worked on Japanese business development in various fields including AI content, IT SaaS and B2B, and gaming. Recently, I have been operating the Japanese business newsletter Zipang while promoting Korean-targeted startup support programs from Japanese companies, conducting lectures on Japanese market entry for early-stage startups, judging startup expansion programs, and providing mentoring and consulting services.
Thanks to over 1,600 subscribers who cherish the Japanese business newsletter Zipang, I discovered the joy of creating content about Japanese business, and I'm now meeting you through online courses on Inflearn as well.

Japanese business is a field that many companies are challenging. It's also an overseas business area that's receiving a lot of attention. Looking back on 14 years of Japanese business development experience, I don't think Japanese business has ever received as much attention as it has in the 2020s. However, I decided to step forward because I wanted to create a lecture focused on the perspective of entering Japan from Korea.

Those who complete the entire course will be able to resolve bottlenecks in Japanese business and gain expertise in entering the Japanese market. Furthermore, you will be able to draw a roadmap for your desired Japanese business objectives and create a Japanese business with connected strategies and actions.

I work back and forth between Korea and Japan, building Japanese businesses in the AI, SaaS, and content sectors. I primarily assist with Japanese business development, mentoring for Japanese ventures, and consulting and marketing for Japanese companies entering the Korean market. I also run Zipang, a newsletter focused on Japanese business news.

From 2012 to 2023, I worked within companies to build Japanese businesses primarily using a 0->1 (Zero to One) approach. My experience covers everything from marketing for initial customer acquisition and establishing local sales foundations in Japan to content, email, and webinar marketing, as well as overall Japanese business management. I have specialized in building Japanese operations from the ground up. Additionally, I have handled business interpretation/translation and produced various business reports related to the Japanese market.
