Spring has tremendous flexibility, but that requires going through complex configurations, and Spring Boot solves most of this through auto-configuration. However, I'm embarrassed to admit that I only realized this for the first time after taking Toby's lecture. When I only learned and used Spring Boot's superficial manual, I now realize that the two values - Spring's flexibility and Boot's convenience - canceled each other out, and I wasn't properly enjoying the benefits of each. But now I've gained the method and courage to directly examine the numerous infrastructure beans in the Spring container, and I've learned how many extension/modification points Spring has and how to customize them. I think this lecture delivers insights not only about how to use Spring Boot but also about the Spring ecosystem as a whole. I especially recommend that those who, like me, used Spring Boot superficially without having the opportunity to become familiar with Spring, definitely take this course. It was a great time where I could learn about the direction we should take in the AI era, study methods, and how to utilize it. When looking at the Spring official documentation, the vast array of features and content that's not commonly used nowadays—like XML-based configuration—can create barriers to entry. However, this course explains the core features and programming models of the Spring Framework through easy-to-understand examples. It covers DI using the IoC container, writing tests, the template method pattern, exception abstraction through the DataAccessException hierarchy, and transaction service abstraction. Reference materials are also provided, allowing you to explore each topic in more depth. Sometimes when taking online courses, you encounter example code or concept explanations that are 'shortcuts' differing from the usage methods recommended in official documentation or Martin Fowler's definitions, which can hinder learning due to the disconnect. But this course always follows the proper approach, making it great for focused learning.
