WordPress, from template creation to deployment, in a snap!
WordPress is a CMS with many strengths, including SEO (search engine optimization), mobile responsiveness, excellent security, and regular updates. Its greatest appeal lies in its open-source nature, allowing developers to easily customize it. As of 2022, approximately 43% of websites worldwide are built with WordPress.
WordPress, this is what I like about it!
1️⃣
Easily build and manage server DBs without complex backend implementation knowledge.
2️⃣
You can create pages with dynamic content using only simple HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
Building a website requires knowledge of both front-end and back-end, but implementing the back-end, including servers, requires considerable learning. However, WordPress allows for easy server database setup, and even beginners can create and manage dynamic content-rich websites with only basic front-end knowledge.
Those who want to go beyond the basics of WordPress and try customizing it
Anyone who wants to create a Korean-based WordPress theme
Anyone who wants to build their own website using WordPress
Anyone who needs to develop, produce, and manage multiple clients' web pages using WordPress
This course begins with an introduction to WordPress features and how to use the code editor for theme coding, then delves into its core structure, features, and functions, gradually delving deeper into each stage. The goal of this course is to help you learn the structure and functionality of WordPress and, based on this knowledge, develop your own WordPress theme from A to Z.
4 practical projects to build step by step
The "WordPress Mastery" course consists of four major projects. Each project builds on the previous lessons and builds a more applied website. Throughout the course, important core features are repeatedly explained.
Projects 3-5 will utilize the HTML/CSS files from the project coded in the course " Bootstrap 5 - Building a Web Project from Scratch ." While we recommend taking that course to understand HTML and other topics, it's not required. The source code for this WordPress course is provided as course material.
Follow the project presented in the lecture and build a theme, step by step. By learning and using it repeatedly , you'll naturally find yourself becoming a professional WordPress developer !
The course consists of five sections, including a general introduction and four projects. One additional project will be added in the future. Each project begins with the essential fundamentals for beginners learning WordPress and progresses to more advanced topics.
This is a simple blog-style website project, and you will learn the most basic aspects of WordPress, such as configuring the theme's core files and The Loop, the most essential feature of WordPress.
This project will create a multi-page website with a main page, simple page templates, blog templates, and posts. Building on what you learned in Project 1, you'll explore various post formats. You'll also learn how to translate an English theme into Korean.
This project is a one-page website primarily focused on custom fields, specifically the Advanced Custom Fields plugin. Developers can create and utilize custom fields in their desired formats and styles, in addition to the default fields provided by WordPress. You'll also learn how to easily migrate a website created in Localhost (developer mode) to a live host server like Cafe24.
We'll create a multi-page website with a custom post type using custom fields and WP_Query. We'll also implement map coding using the Kakao Map API in JavaScript. Furthermore, unlike Project 3, we'll learn how to migrate a website built on Localhost to a live server, also called Cafe24, using Git. This will be a valuable tool for developers developing and managing multiple WordPress websites. We'll also implement a live search feature using JavaScript, dynamically updating search results as users type in search terms.
Building on what you learned in previous projects, you'll code a WordPress theme with increased functionality and design complexity for a multi-page website. You'll also learn about commenting, login and registration, membership levels, and managing permissions such as viewing and reading posts.

Q. Is this a course that I can take even if I am not a computer science major?
Yes, it's possible. If you're a major, you'll probably do fine without taking this course. This course is designed for beginner developers who have a basic understanding of front-end programming, such as Bootstrap. I recommend it to those who want to learn more and build a web server and freely input and upload content to create a dynamic website.
Q. I'm a complete beginner developer who only knows basic HTML and CSS. Will I be able to follow the course?
Assuming you have a solid understanding of HTML/CSS, I believe you'll be able to fully understand this course. I, too, studied WordPress theme coding from a very basic level, simply by searching Google and YouTube, and I remember most of that process. Therefore, I'll provide useful references and explanations for key WordPress topics during the course. With the will and motivation, your knowledge will improve quickly.
Q. Is there anything I need to prepare before attending the lecture?
First and foremost, you'll need a computer with an internet connection. The type, operating system, and specifications of your PC don't matter. (Of course, a high-spec PC with high-speed internet access is even better!) Furthermore, you'll need to have some basic knowledge of programming languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
If you're still a bit unfamiliar with the basics, we recommend taking the "Bootstrap 5 - Creating a Web Project from the Ground Up" course. We recommend Chrome (highly recommended) or Firefox as your web browser. You'll also need a code editor capable of coding. While the course uses Visual Studio Code, any other editor is fine.
Q. Can I follow the exercises on a Windows operating system?
Yes, of course. While this course uses macOS, you can study and watch the lectures on any operating system, including Windows and Linux. While the Mac and Windows environments may differ slightly during local host installation, this is clearly explained through separate videos and images. Furthermore, shortcuts that differ during coding are explained as they occur, so you should be able to take the course without any major difficulties.
