  • Number of exam questions: 180 questions in total.

  • Exam duration: 240 minutes (4 hours).

  • Break time: Two 10-minute breaks are provided.

  • Question types: The exam includes various formats, such as multiple-choice, multiple-response, drag-and-drop, and scenario-based questions.

  • Exam languages: 16 languages are supported, including Korean and English.

  • How to take the exam: You can take it at a Pearson VUE test center or via an online proctored exam.

  • Education and experience requirements (for bachelor's degree holders): A bachelor's degree or higher + 3 years of project management experience within the past 10 years + 35 hours of project management education are required.

  • Retaking the exam: You may take the exam up to three times within the one-year eligibility period.

The PMP exam content encompasses the PMBOK® Guide – Eighth Edition, the Agile Practice Guide, and other real-world practice examples. In other words, the exam questions combine the principle-based content and 40 processes from the Eighth Edition with agile approaches.

The PMP exam is not based solely on the PMBOK 8th Edition. PMI provides the following guidelines.

* The PMP exam is based on PMI’s Exam Content Outline (ECO).
This ECO includes the following three domains.
