What you will gain after the course

  • You can understand how Kafka is used in MSA.

  • You can see under what circumstances communication takes place between the services.

  • We’ll implement the entire authentication process using JWT in an MSA, from start to finish.

  • You can learn how to collect metrics from services using Prometheus.

  • You can use AlertManager to automatically send an email when a specific condition occurs.

Beginning Kubernates-Based MSA (with Spring Boot) - Part 2

Beyond simple microservice implementation to 'connection and scalability'

  • The reason MSA becomes complex is that communication begins between services.

  • How will you communicate with other services?

  • Declarative development using OpenFeign

  • Why You Should Use a Circuit Breaker for Synchronous Communication

  • Asynchronous communication using Kafka

  • Publishing and Receiving Messages

  • Processing Simple Strings and JSON Data

  • Member data processing using PostgreSQL and JPA

  • How to Use Access Tokens and Refresh Tokens

  • Storage and comparison of Refresh Tokens using Redis

  • Designing Authentication Filters in an API Gateway

  • Installing Prometheus / Grafana / AlertManager

  • Metric collection through ServiceMonitor

  • PromQL and Grafana Dashboards

  • Gmail integration using AlertManager

Recommended for the following people

Kubernetes beginners

Beginners who want hands-on content to practice with rather than simply reading a book and are unsure where to start.

MSA challengers

Developers who know what MSA is in theory but are unsure where to start in practice

A standout portfolio

Job seekers or employment candidates who want to build distinctive development experience and a portfolio that stands out from others

After completing the course,

  • Improved understanding of the development process when using Kubernetes

  • Implement a safer service state using circuit breakers and other techniques

  • Implement MSA using existing code in other environments, such as AWS EC2.

  • Develop the ability to think through the design of the entire system before AI completes it.

What you will learn in PART 2

Topic (5) Communication Between Services 1 - Synchronous Communication

Scenario for registering a new review in the review service.

What if it is necessary to integrate with the product service in this process?

What happens if the service I’m integrating with fails?

Why Service Integrations Need Circuit Breakers Too

Integrating with Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, and Grafana

Topic (6) Communication Between Services 2 - Asynchronous Kafka

Communicating between services asynchronously

Trying Out a Free Managed Kafka Service

Sending Order Messages with Kafka

Receive and use a single message across multiple services

Topic (7) Authentication Processing and JWT

Integrating with PostgreSQL

Processing member data using JPA and PasswordEncoder

Issuing Access Tokens and Refresh Tokens

Storing and Processing Refresh Tokens Using Redis

Topic (8) Monitoring - Prometheus / Grafana

Configure Prometheus to collect metrics from the product service

How to Use PromQL

How to Use Grafana Dashboard Templates

Send an email when an anomaly occurs using AlertManager

Do you have any questions?

Write at least three questions and answers that prospective students may have before enrolling.
Rather than obvious or formulaic answers, we recommend answers that reveal the knowledge sharer’s personality.

Q. Can I take the course even if I don't know Java or Spring Boot?

The reason experience with Java or Spring Boot is required is to understand the explanations in the course content.

Although there isn't much code for actual development, knowledge of web programming is essential.

Q. What is the practice environment like?

It was created for Mac, but you can also follow the exercises on Windows.

Since Kubernetes runs in Docker Desktop, we recommend an environment with at least 16GB of memory.

Notes Before Taking the Course

Practice Environment

  • Operating system and version (OS): macOS

  • Tools used: VSCode (or another IDE), JDK21, and an AWS account are required.

  • PC specifications: A machine with at least 16GB of memory capable of running Docker Desktop

Learning materials

  • The first lecture of each section contains the lecture materials, and the last lecture of each section contains the practice code for that section.
