What makes a good resume? 📄

A resume is the first document you prepare when applying for a job or changing jobs. However, when you actually try to write a resume, isn't it overwhelming? Especially since you don't have many opportunities to see other people's resumes, it's hard to even get a feel for what a 'good resume' is.

In my last job change, I submitted my resume to 8 companies and was accepted by 7.5 companies . Even though I looked at countless other people's resumes, writing a resume was not easy, so I read all the articles about resumes and organized the resume writing method. I shared the resume writing method I organized on my blog, and the article recorded about 170,000 views and ranked first in the Google 'developer resume' keyword .

Since then, I have received numerous lecture offers, detailed resume writing instructions, and requests for resume feedback. I had previously declined them, thinking that blog posts alone would suffice. However, through several mentoring sessions and lectures that I had the chance to attend, I saw students who had better results in employment or changing jobs. After that, I thought it would be helpful to more people, so I prepared this lecture. (I would like to express my sincere gratitude to those who have achieved good results through this lecture and let me know about it! 🙇‍♀️)

I prepared this course with the hope that those who take it will be able to incorporate the wonderful experiences and strengths they have accumulated so far into their resumes, so that at least they will not fail in getting a job or changing jobs because of their resumes . 🙏

Expected Questions Q&A 💬

Q. If I take this course, will I definitely pass the resume test?

🙅‍♀️ To be honest, that's not true! In order for your resume to pass, you need to have a good resume structure and format, but in the end, the most important thing is the content of your resume . That's why, no matter how much you learn resume writing techniques, it's difficult to write a resume that passes without good content to include in your resume.

So! As I go through the lecture, I talk about what else you need to do. I mention my shortcomings and points for improvement that you can find when you have difficulty writing your resume, so you can know what else you need to do to write a successful resume. (In particular! I tried to explain a lot about the parts that non-major new recruits who have the most troubles need to take care of more.)

Q. What questions are discussed in ?

💁‍♀️ I will answer the questions below. Frequently asked questions after the course opens will be updated in the course materials.

  • Q. What level of skill do you require of new recruits?
  • Q. How many projects should I do?
  • Q. What kind of project would you like to do?
  • Q. What should I keep in mind when managing my blog and GitHub?
  • Q. I am not a major in CS. How much should I study?
  • Q. Is a portfolio really necessary?
  • Q. Since this is not an actual service, I cannot express the results in numbers. What should I do?
  • Q. Is it a good idea to study until I pass the Nekaraku Cup?
  • Q. I have nothing to write.
  • Q. If a non-major competes with a major, it seems like they will inevitably be pushed back. How can a non-major be competitive?

Q. Can non-developers listen too?

🙆‍♀️ Yes! You can. Although I will explain it from a developer perspective, most of the content can be applied to anyone writing a resume, regardless of job title.

Thank you for the great lecture!! How I used the lecture - I wrote my resume first, and while listening to the lecture, I improved the parts that could be improved. I did this because I was afraid that I would forget if I reviewed everything at once and improved it, and it was okay! What was good - The lecture was based on various cases, so I understood it well, and I was able to improve my resume by referring to it. It was good that the lecture was conducted by researching not only Worny's experience but also other people's experiences! Feedback - I was disappointed that there was no resume for cases where SI goes to service. ㅜ.ㅜ I think it can't be helped because Worny is not in this case, but I thought it would be good if there was a case like that since it's not easy to go from SI to service!! Thank you!!

Hello, Worni~ I really enjoyed the lecture. 1) I especially liked the part about the purpose of the resume at the beginning. I was really bad at writing resumes, so I looked at a lot of materials and asked a lot of acquaintances, seniors, etc., but I was so tired because there seemed to be no answers. I was not motivated, but the part about the purpose of the resume, "A device to discover my shortcomings and points of improvement" really resonated with me, so I will consider that part and prepare in the future. 2) Also, you gave examples of resumes of actual new developers and experienced developers, and pointed out the shortcomings and good points, which was also really good. 3) I really liked the part where you summarized the content at the end of the lecture~ You said that writing down the regrettable points and good points to improve makes the lecture more informative, so I will share a few parts that I wrote down. 1) In the actual resume feedback section, Worni mentioned in the middle, "When I was mentoring, I talked to Mr. ㅇㅇ in more detail and he said that there was a part ㅁㅁㅁ that was not included in the resume." I thought it would be really helpful to see how you can get feedback in the process of talking to someone. I heard that Worni is hosting a seminar on News, so if there are any good contents or videos during the seminar, it would be good to add them to the latter part of the lecture. ㅎㅎ 2) It would be helpful if there was another case in the section on improving your career resume. While listening to this lecture, I took notes on the parts that I thought were lacking, and thanks to that, I was able to really learn a lot. I will also participate in the seminar and learn more. Thank you for the great lecture!

Hello bluesky! I am touched by such a sincere course review 😭 I had never thought of it, but like you said, it would be good to add the good parts of the seminar to the lecture as a clip! I will think about this!! It is always difficult to find a resume to talk about while watching the part about improving your career resume, so I am always worried. I will definitely consider it the next time I update the lecture! This course review was very helpful to me because it told me in detail which parts you liked and where to improve ㅠㅠ I sincerely thank you for leaving such a sincere course review! Let's meet at the seminar and talk more~!

I haven't taken many lectures on writing resumes, but this was definitely the best lecture. It was easier to understand at once because it had key keywords and examples of comparison before and after, rather than long explanations. And it was finished with a neat summary! It was like a great resume lecture. ㅎㅎ Thanks to Worni's article, I want to get a review of my resume that I'm writing well(?) soon-!!

I watched it at 1.25x speed. It was helpful to be able to look at a few resumes. The lecture content is good, but I wish there were more examples of resumes for career positions that I could refer to, either as PDFs or links. Even for career positions, accumulated experience is different, and not everyone can have ideal experiences at an ideal company like Nekarakube, so it would be nice to be able to see how those experiences are described on the resume.
