Topic Introduction ๐Ÿ“

This course will teach you the basics of using a music production program called Cakewalk !
Cakewalk is a music production program categorized as a DAW that is used in various fields such as home recording, studio recording, and composition/arrangement!

In the past, it was an expensive program costing around 500,000 won , but as the company went through various difficulties, it has now become free .
I also started studying Cakewalk because I saw the great advantage of it being free.

Composition continues to be made by drawing notes on musical scores, a practice that has been practiced since the past.
As times have advanced, anyone can now tell the pitch of a note through a screen called a piano roll, even if they don't know how to read sheet music.
Stories are going around of people writing worldwide hit songs using just a computer, or even a laptop.

<This is called a piano roll. It's more intuitive than you might think. It looks like a piano laid down.>

Why should you learn โœ’๏ธ

In fact, music is not at all helpful for employment or a promising field or anything like that.
To be successful in music, you need more talent than in other things, but you also need a lot of hard work.
And perhaps, I think, the day when AI will replace composers may come in the distant future.

But it's really sad that you can't get into the world of composition for that reason!
Because everyone loves music, right?
I think it's everyone's dream to step into the world they admire at least once.
Like a cartoon I drew scribbled on, or trying to sing a song while playing the guitar chords awkwardly...

Guys, it's time to do something bigger!
It's time to create your own music .

Because music, especially composition, has become so popular
With just a little bit of knowledge, you can create music of a certain quality!

Free programs, free virtual instruments, free sound samples..
Through these things, we will create our own music!

What you will learn in this course โœ๏ธ

In this lesson, you will learn the basics of how to use Cakewalk, along with some very basic music theory.
(Don't be too scared of the theory! I can confidently tell you how easy and simple it is!)

Course Features ๐Ÿ’ก

If I had to name a feature of the lecture, it would be that it is conducted on the premise that โ€˜all programs are freeโ€™...?
Actually, among the programs I have, there are many paid programs,
I'm going to assume that you don't spend any money,
All programs are free programs only.

Introduction by section ๐Ÿ“–

  • How much of this screen is actually used?
"What we don't have to see and what we should see"

  • How to play piano without a piano! Playing virtual instruments

...and many other lectures are prepared!

In this tutorial we will use Cakewalk and various virtual instruments!
Cakewalk's requirements, as you can see above, are Windows 7 or higher, 64-bit , 4GB of RAM, and more!
Please refer to the picture above :)

Most virtual instruments don't have any specific requirements, but it would be nice to have at least a place to download virtual instruments and samples, separate from the 5GB of Cakewalk installation! An external hard drive would be even better, right?
(If it's a hobby, about 20GB is enough, and 10GB is enough to get by to some extent!)

Expected Questions Q&A ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Q. Can I listen to it even if I don't have any knowledge about music ?
A. Yes! This is a lecture designed with that in mind! Before music, we will learn a program called Cakewalk, and through the program called Cakewalk, we will help you get one step closer to music, so please trust and follow along!

Q. I use a different music composition program.. What should I do? ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ
A. In fact, it is often said among professionals that the difference in composition programs is meaningless .
The only difference is that the buttons you press when you first start are different, and the shortcut keys are different, but the basic tools are all similar.
After watching the basic lecture of that composition program on YouTube, I think you can take the necessary classes.
However, Cakewalk is a program that doesn't have many lectures on YouTube, so I had no choice but to create a lecture!

Q. Are there any unique advantages to Cakewalk?
A. Compared to other music composition programs (Cubase, FL Studio, Logic, Ableton Live, Studio One, etc.), Cakewalk is often evaluated as having a more user-friendly interface for notating notes. It is also often evaluated as having a relatively easier recording method compared to other programs.
However, since every composition program has distinct advantages and disadvantages,
Cakewalk is not 32-bit compatible (โ†”Cubase),
It is also unstable for live performance (โ†”Ableton Live)
There are some inconveniences in automation and other aspects (โ†”FL Studio)
The original instruments and sound samples are also somewhat lacking (โ†”Logic).
But just like every program has its pros and cons, I hope you know that those who have completely mastered this program will not feel the inconvenience much!

Q. Who are you, and why did you create this course?
A. I started music with drums, went to music school, and then dropped out.
In conclusion, I am Jasin, a 'composer' who has been doing music for 7 years and taught myself computer music for 3 years!
If you search for my stage name on YouTube, my hip-hop beat channel will come up. If you listen to the songs I've been uploading consistently since I started learning on my own, you might get the feeling that "I've grown this much". :)
This lecture was created because I thought there were no lectures in Korea that "explained" Cakewalk in particular. There are a few other music composition programs on YouTube, but for some reason, people don't look for Cakewalk even though it's free. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Oh, and personally, I have a strong tendency to want to teach people something, and since I don't have the opportunity, I wander around many places, and I want to realize my dream of teaching for the first time through this site called Inflearn, which accepts people who have something to teach! Please take care of me, students :)
