[1st season until release] Unity idle raising game recruitment

Hello, this is Rookiss.

https://www.inflearn.com/course/%EC%9C%A0%EB%8B%88%ED%8B%B0-%EB%B0%A9%EC%B9%98%ED%98%95- %EB%B6%80%ED%8A%B8%EC%BA%A0%ED%94%84#program

We are recruiting for a new concept boot camp in 2024.

Without learning a single skill piecemeal,
Wouldn't you like to experience the full cycle from start to launch and marketing?
And what if you could learn the latest trends in technology to help you create your portfolio?

For these people, we have prepared a new concept of boot camp.
We will release one project every six months from now.
We learn everything we create there through weekly live classes on Discord.
Students gain hands-on experience through weekly practice assignments.
You will learn how to manage and create large projects.
Because the project is created by hiring professional programming/art/planning development personnel,
You can experience work that feels similar to working in an actual company.

It is risky for me to disclose all the code, but
However, due to the nature of the game industry, there are virtually no intermediate or higher level courses.
We decided to push ahead with this long-term course because we felt it was absolutely necessary.

The scheduled bootcamp schedule for next year is as follows:
1st term (January 2024 recruitment): Unity idle raising single game (Unity, WebServer)
2nd term (scheduled to recruit in April 2024): Dark & Darker type games (UE5, GameAbilitySystem, DedicatedServer)
3rd term (scheduled to recruit in July 2024): Remake the game made in the 1st term into an MMO (Unity, C# Server, WebServer, ..)

============================================================

Employment is not something you prepare for, it comes along.

Students complain that it is difficult to get a job, but companies actually complain that they have no one to hire. There are many job seekers at the entry level, but there is still a big gap between them and the level of new recruits required for actual projects . Students study hard and do their best, but it is not a good idea to just try hard without knowing the right way to do it. Just as it is meaningless to try your best while going against the grain when running a marathon, it is also important to study programming in the right direction.

However, from a student's perspective, it is very difficult to find the path in limited information. They say that entering a company and seeing a lot of other people's code is a shortcut to growth, but this opportunity is a privilege that is given only after getting a job. And in reality, companies prefer experienced workers and are reluctant to hire new employees. So how on earth should new employees gain experience?

Rookiss MMO Lab is a newly established 5-person team with the goal of releasing a mobile MMO every year. Rookiss's philosophy is that games are successful with ideas and fun, and the technology used to develop the game is widely distributed so that everyone can grow together. In the first half of 2024, we will produce an [Idle Raising Single RPG Game] to learn RPG content and web server basics, and in the second half, we will remake it into an [MMO Game] . If you participate in the boot camp that we are recruiting for this time, you can follow the progress of the project in the first half.

The game is planned to be a 2D game in the style of <Urur Mercenary Group>, and will be developed with 5 to 6 players.

  • Programmer x2 (Rookiss, Dragon)

  • Planning x1 (Zombie)

  • Art x2~3 (Recruitment scheduled for December)

What kind of portfolio should I create to get a job?

Questions like this don't make much sense.

This is because companies prioritize the applicant's comprehensive skills and research abilities. However, if you submit a simple Unity puzzle game as your main portfolio and there is not even a single core technology that can be emphasized in it, then it can be seen that your strategy is wrong. This is because employment is fundamentally a relative evaluation, and the applicant's documents have no distinguishing power among numerous job seekers.

If you practice making large-scale games based on what you learned in the boot camp lectures, and write a technical introduction on various RPG implementation/design methods, and even write down the things you thought about during the development process and ultimately experience releasing it as an online game, you will find yourself able to choose a company and go there, rather than worrying about passing the document screening. This is because employment is not something you prepare for, but something that follows .

How it works

  • The lecture will be held on Saturdays (7pm-11pm) in the first half of 2024 (January-June). (31 weeks x 4 hours = 124 hours)

  • Rookiss himself will be giving live lectures on Discord.

  • I plan to structure it into 3 hours of development content and 1 hour of planning/BM/process content.

  • This week we'll walk you through the progress made by the Rookiss team in code.

  • The implementation/design of the content to be developed next week will be assigned as a student assignment.

  • We discuss different design methods and show you Rookiss's answer sheet.

  • This isn't just a simple coding course, it's seriously geared towards launch and revenue.

Q&A

Q. Is this an online game?

The project being carried out in the first half of the year is a single game. However, rankings/chat, etc. will be included.

Q. What technologies do you mainly deal with?

The design of RPG content (battles, skills, AI, goods, growth, items, quests, achievements, events, etc.) is the key. (Rookiss will teach various design methods he has experienced in various projects.) Implementing chat/ranking through learning the basics of server. Other topics such as authentication/payment/advertising are also covered.

Q. Can students write their own code and commit it?

No, I think that might cause confusion.

Q. Do you provide full source/resources for the actual released game?

The source code is provided almost in its entirety, and the resources are provided only for learning purposes.

Q. Can I release my game with the same code?

Yes, but I recommend that you make some changes to the game plan and create new resources.

Q. Are chat and rankings implemented independently?

I'm thinking about it. I can show you both sides.

Q. Is automatic hunting included?

It depends on the game plan, but you can enter.

Q. Can I participate in the planning?

Yes, everyone can come up with ideas and set the big direction.

Q. If I participate, will my name be included in the list of game creators?

Yes, I'll put it in the Special Thanks To section of the ending credits :D
