(Certificate-based) Electric Vehicle Charging Protocol

A lecture to grasp the concept of Autosar, the foundation of automotive SW

The purpose of this lecture was to resolve the regret that if I had known about it in advance and developed it, I would have been able to see a wider range of things.
This is the sixth series of lectures on electric vehicle charging protocol (certification) .

The era of electric vehicles has arrived? Or is it still too risky? There are various opinions in the market. Also, there is an opinion that electric vehicles are environmentally friendly, but they take too long to charge. However, we do not know how electric vehicles are actually charged. The electric vehicle charging protocol is described based on ISO 15118, and the lecture was created based on this.

When developing a product for electric vehicles, I had a hard time because I couldn't draw the big picture at the beginning. After I actually understood it, it wasn't that difficult, and I thought, 'It's important to set the big picture for beginners.' Accordingly, I included in the lecture how the charging process is used in real life and what happens at an actual electric vehicle charging station.

Electric car charging?

With the recent PnC technology, electric vehicle owners can simply plug in the charging cable to their electric vehicle and have the payment automatically processed at once. How does the charging process between an electric vehicle and an electric vehicle charging station work? How did it become possible to charge just by plugging it in?

To satisfy your curiosity, the lecture introduces what kind of Request/Response goes back and forth after plugging in, how to authenticate the other party's trustworthiness, and what is required.
