I never expected to find a lecture like this on Inflearn. The ingenious and surprising framework of analyzing the Romance of the Three Kingdoms through the "Rule of Three" is truly remarkable. It doesn't feel awkward or forced at all; rather, it is a key that pierces through to the core. The pacing of the lecture allowed for great focus, and I loved how it reinforced the content by combining storytelling with the Rule of Three. There are section quizzes as well, and I found myself genuinely trying my best to get the right answers. Because it's so interesting and helpful, I'm going through it quickly, but I plan to re-watch it several times to ensure I apply it to my life and work. This lecture challenges me to establish my own "Rule of Three" for other classics or different tasks in my professional life.

Since it was a lecture on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, I was initially worried it might just be the same old stories everyone knows, but the depth of this lecture is truly on another level. I loved how the expertise of a professional who has spent nearly 30 years on the front lines of marketing and consulting was felt throughout the course. The most impressive part was how it pierces through a complex world using a clear framework called the "Rule of Three." Instead of just admiring the exploits of heroes, the instructor translates them into specific business strategies like the "3 Stages of Cognitive Dominance" or the "3 Stages of Justification Design," which gave me the confidence that I could apply these directly to my work. In particular, I liked these aspects: Insightful Analysis: The part where Guan Yu’s slaying of Hua Xiong was explained through "Signaling Theory" to show how an underdog builds a brand was incredibly fresh. Practical Utility: Content such as the "3 Stages of Writing a Manifesto" to move people's hearts or Cao Cao’s "M&A Strategy" was living knowledge that can be used immediately in proposals or at the negotiation table. Clear Framework: By helping me build a system that categorizes complex situations into just three areas, I feel like I’ve gained an excellent tool to avoid getting lost in this chaotic era. For those who feel overwhelmed by the complexity of the world or feel they have hit a limit in their strategic thinking, this lecture will be the best choice. It was a precious course that allowed me to create my own blueprint for victory through the massive text of the Three Kingdoms. Thank you for providing such an excellent lecture at a great price.

2. [Process] Introducing stories and frameworks interchangeably

🟢 Step 1. [Story] Understanding the context through the lecture

  • Enjoy the heroes' choices and the unfolding of events with excitement.

🔵 Step 2. [Rule of 3] Deriving strategies through lectures

  • Structure the story you just watched into the '3-Step Strategic Framework' to make it your own.

🟡 Step 3. Applying to your own system

  • Apply the "Rule of Three" textbook to your current planning tasks or concerns.

In 208 AD, Zhuge Liang changed the course of history by reorganizing the state of the world into three axes: Wei, Shu, and Wu. This was no mere coincidence. Throughout the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which records thousands of characters and tens of thousands of battles, the "Rule of Three"—the strategy of seizing victory by organizing a complex world into just three domains—flows powerfully.

This lecture is an intellectual journey to systematically discover and organize the "Laws of Three" hidden within the massive text of the Three Kingdoms, based on the "Three-Domain Classification" that I have verified in the field for nearly 30 years.

1. Why the 'Rule of Three': The Oldest Leadership System for Governing the World

Using the number '3' to organize objects or people is the most universal and oldest method in human history. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is no different. From the 'Oath of the Peach Garden' by the three brothers Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, to the 'Tripartite Confrontation' of Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan, this great classic established order in an era of chaos through the number '3'.

I am not a scholar. I am a practitioner who has worked on the front lines of consulting and marketing. The conclusion I have reached through numerous projects is that categorizing something into three areas is generally the most effective strategy.

2. Beyond Intuition to Framework: A New Lens for Reading the Three Kingdoms

Many people read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and admire the heroes' exploits, but they overlook the systems those heroes used to organize situations. The simple slogan "divide into three" is easy. However, it is not easy to find criteria for determining "on what basis the three areas should be established" and "whether that classification is practically valid."

I have projected the strategic frameworks I honed over the past 30 years in the fields of brand strategy and consulting onto the Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

  • Capturing the Domains: What are the "three core elements" that appear at every decisive moment in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms?

  • Building the System: Beyond intuitive summaries, is there a "Manual of 3" that can repeatedly produce results?

  • Strategic Execution: How do the three categorized areas connect to an execution plan for actual victory?

3. [Result] Building your own 'Victory System' through the mirror of the Three Kingdoms

"Results are not left to luck; they are designed."

While many consume the Romance of the Three Kingdoms merely as a collection of exciting tales of heroes, the architects of victory read the dynamics and systems hidden beneath the surface. The ultimate goal of this lecture is not the simple acquisition of historical knowledge, but to transform your very mindset into that of a strategist.

  • Simplification of Complexity: You will develop the self-development ability to summarize and structure any situation into just three core axes, ensuring you don't get lost in business environments where countless variables are intertwined.

  • Implementation of Proven Frameworks: Through 64 strategic models that combine 30 years of field experience with classical wisdom, you will equip your mind with a planner's tool-kit that can be immediately deployed in the face of any challenge. You will experience a definitive boost in work productivity.

  • Strengthening Practical Decision-Making Skills: By projecting the decisive moves of heroes—such as Liu Bei's talent management, Cao Cao's crisis management, and Zhuge Liang's strategic planning—into your own proposals and decisions, you will gain the power to design a 'structure that is bound to win.'

The goal of this lecture series is not to deal with grand, universal matters. It is to take the specific subject of 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms,' which we know well, and to collect and analyze the 'Rules of Three' that operate within it one by one.

It may feel unfamiliar at first. However, after completing 64 episodes along with the 150-page Strategy Masterbook, you will possess a sharper strategic insight than someone who has read the Romance of the Three Kingdoms three times. In this era of chaos, seize the initiative in business with your very own 'Rule of Three' system.

This is a very unique lecture. First, I'll point out a few key things. The lecture alternates between the story and the planning framework. I think it’s best for listeners to adjust how they approach it depending on whether they have read "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" before. I have never read the story all the way through. At first, I listened in order, but later I got a bit confused, so I ended up binge-listening to just the story parts first. If you aren't familiar with the Three Kingdoms, I recommend listening to the story from beginning to end first, like I did. I liked how the story parts were organized into 1, 2, and 3. However, because the characters and content are so vast, there were times when I had to re-listen or search for information separately. Also, I haven't finished the 'Rule of Three' section yet, but I think it would be good to download the materials and study that part separately as if you're studying planning. I could see that a lot of effort went into the materials, which was great... but to put it positively, the content is substantial; to put it negatively, the volume is so large that it feels like you really have to study it. Additionally, it would be even more perfect if a summary of the story was included in the materials or made available as a separate download.

Hello exit256. Thank you so much for leaving such an honest review that will be helpful to others. Yes, as you mentioned, the course itself is structured by alternating between the story and the Rule of Three. If you prefer, it is perfectly fine to watch just the stories or just the Rule of Three sections in succession. In fact, as you suggested, I think it might be better for those unfamiliar with the Romance of the Three Kingdoms to listen to the stories first. Regarding your suggestion to provide a separate summary of the stories, I will think about the most effective way to offer that. Thank you for the great idea. I will try to include a brief story section explaining the Rule of Three at the beginning of the textbook. I will post an update in the news section once it has been updated.

Each episode of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms is neatly organized with a three-line summary, strategic analysis, and insights, making it easy to naturally grasp the strategies as you listen. Although the total volume is large, each lecture is short, making it perfect for listening during commutes. I actually found myself finishing it quite quickly. The way every strategy is explained through a single framework called the 'Rule of Three' is impressive, likely due to the depth of the instructor's 30 years of practical experience. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves the Three Kingdoms, as well as those interested in planning or persuasion.

Hello learner, It is a pleasure to hear from you, and thank you so much for leaving a review after completing the course! I am both surprised and delighted that you accurately identified and pointed out the specific details I focused on while creating these lectures. While creating the course, and even now after uploading it, I have been rereading the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Lately, I've been realizing that the "home base" for the countless principles of strategy and planning I have learned was, in fact, the Three Kingdoms all along. Almost every imaginable type of human figure appears, and the entire text is dominated by the numerous strategies and plans they squeezed out with every ounce of their strength just to survive. For a strategy geek like me, it is truly a treasure trove. It would make this course worthwhile if even a small fraction of the insights drawn from this can be helpful in your daily life and practical work. I am providing a coupon to download the "[30 Years of Planning] 300-page / Three Kingdoms Story / Data Book"—which is currently being sold separately—for free to those who leave a review by the end of March. If you provide your email address, I will send you the link. Thank you! Ah, I see now that you left your email address in a separate comment, so I have sent the coupon link to you!
