I'm a Unity developer with 10 years of experience. Drawing on my previous experience as a researcher in an automotive company's VR group, I'm sharing my knowledge on immersive and real-world technologies like AR, MR, and VR, leveraging solutions like Unity.

Q. What kind of program is Mesh?

Mesh is an online collaboration solution unveiled by Microsoft at an event in March 2021. Leveraging Microsoft's mixed reality (MR) device, HoloLens 2, it enables collaboration across virtual and physical spaces with immersive and versatile features.

Q. Is Mesh free to use?

While specific pricing hasn't been announced yet, the preview version is available for free as of December 2021. According to an announcement at an event in November 2021, it will be available starting in 2022, based on Microsoft's Teams collaboration solution. Specific pricing will likely be announced at that time.

Q. Do I need HoloLens 2 to use Mesh?

The currently available preview version requires a HoloLens 2. According to what was revealed in a previous announcement, the version scheduled for release in 2022 will be compatible with not only HoloLens 2 but also other VR devices, mobile devices, and PCs.
