HVAC Commissioning Made Easy for Everyone
Having spent 10 years as an HVAC engineer at overseas EPC sites, there is one truth I have realized most poignantly: "All hardships culminate in commissioning." In the case of HVAC, the construction team often handles everything up to commissioning, so everything from writing the procedures to the moment the valves are opened and the equipment is started was entirely my responsibility. As I wove together everything from massive equipment, ducts, and piping to precise automatic control cables and instruments, I often found myself confused as to whether I was an engineer or a maestro conducting a grand masterpiece of performance art. Furthermore, once you step into this rugged world of commissioning, even the reliable Quality team suddenly exits backstage. The pressure of having to shoulder everything from preparation to final inspection solely as the construction team... Thanks to that, I had to spend countless nights working overtime under the starlit skies of the Middle East. Whenever I stayed up all night amidst the hot desert winds, I thought desperately: "If someone had just spoon-fed me the big picture and the fine details of commissioning, wouldn't my clock-out time have been moved up just a little bit?" This lecture was born out of those numerous nights of overtime. It is my hope that the know-how I have accumulated through 14 years at construction sites and 3 years at data centers will be used to shorten the workdays of juniors and fellow engineers who are struggling in the field at this very moment. In this lecture, we will dissect the major equipment that serves as the heart of the plant HVAC system, the instruments that act like a fine neural network, and the mechanisms of automatic operation. I have also meticulously organized the objectives and essential equipment for each stage of commissioning, from Pre-commissioning to the Performance Test. Rather than a simple recitation of theory, I will vividly convey precautions that must never be missed on-site through real-life cases soaked in my blood, sweat, and tears. If there is anything in the explanation that feels slightly lacking or if you are confused about on-site application while listening to the lecture, please do not hesitate to ask questions. Like an emergency generator that reliably protects a site during a blackout, I am standing by, ready to run at full capacity to answer your questions at any time!
