Practical Autonomous AI Agent Construction: Learning with OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, and LangChain Deep Agents.

  • First, you will create agents and tools using the OpenAI Agents SDK and step-by-step learn the core functions required for real-world agent applications, such as Handoff, Guardrail, Structured Output, Session, and Tracing. The attached textbook also covers Agent, Handoff, Guardrail, Function Tools, Session, and Tracing as the core components of the Agents SDK.


  • In the next step, we will use the MCP (Model Context Protocol) to connect AI Agents to databases and external systems. MCP is a standardized connection method that allows tools from the same server to be used across various agent environments, such as Claude, Cursor, LangChain, and the OpenAI SDK, without being dependent on a specific framework.

  • Finally, by utilizing LangChain and Deep Agents, we will expand beyond simple Tool Calling to complex agent systems that use Planning, Subagents, Filesystem, Context Management, and Long-term Memory.

Hands-on Environment

  • Operating System: Windows 10/11 recommended, practice also possible on macOS and Linux

  • Development Environment: Uses Python 3.12, Anaconda (or Miniconda), and Visual Studio Code

  • Required Account: An account capable of using the OpenAI API and an API Key are required

  • Network: Internet connection required for OpenAI API and Python package installation

  • Recommended PC Specifications: 8GB RAM or more recommended, 5GB or more free disk space

  • A separate GPU is not required, and practice is possible on a standard laptop/desktop PC.

  • PPT/PDF textbooks summarizing the lecture content are provided.

  • We provide Python example code used for hands-on practice with OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, LangChain, and Deep Agents.

  • Practice codes can be downloaded through the GitHub Repository.

  • It includes completed examples and step-by-step practice code used in the lectures, such as Flask-based Web Agents, MCP Server/Client, and SQLite Database.

  • We provide requirements.txt and related configuration files for setting up the practice environment.

  • Basic knowledge of Python syntax and functions is required.
