SQL Query Book to Find and Use When You Need It, Part I

Sometimes, data processing is blocked and frustrating. If you are not a professional programmer or developer, learning unfamiliar fields such as Python or Java is not easy and there is not enough time. This is for those who only know Excel and SQL basics when it comes to frequently used things. This is the first part of the SQL query book that you can find and use when you need it.

The SQL closest to real life
Practice-based learning! 💫

Have you ever had these concerns?

🥺

I've been studying SQL diligently, but I don't know how or where to use it.

🤔

In this case, like this, in that case, like that. Is there a query that can be written like a formula?

Through the open source database MariaDB and HeidiSQL environment
Study SQL that's closer to real-world use cases!

A practical SQL query book 📖

I send my encouragement and support to those of you who have diligently studied various database environments and SQL. However, at some point, it seems like learning, experience, and even development have become separate processes. After learning the basics, we're told to pursue advanced studies, gain practical experience, and even challenge ourselves in new fields. It's never-ending, right?

It might be a good idea to pause for a moment. Put aside the countless programming languages and tools that claim to be more powerful, and instead, carefully examine your own work based on the SQL you've been learning and refining. Ask yourself, will your work truly shine when combined with new technologies? Will it open up new avenues?

This lecture doesn't cover new SQL syntax or new technologies. It simply uses the SQL you've been studying diligently in a slightly different way. It's not a big deal once you know it, but it might have been daunting before. I hope this will be an opportunity and time to pause and enjoy the cool breeze. Lecture Features ✨

The theory and practice are structured in a 2:8 ratio.

We cover the intermediate steps involved in processing data in detail.

Learn how to reduce the load on your web server.

We will focus on learning about 'repetitive processing', which is essential in real-world work.

We use lesson plans in mind map format that allow you to see the flow at a glance.

The internal data conversion process is explained in an easy-to-view Excel table.

I recommend this to these people 🙆‍♀️

Those who are wondering where and how to use the SQL basics they have studied so hard

Those who want to understand SQL grammar from the basics and apply it

Anyone on the path to becoming a data analyst in a specific field

Intermediate-level or higher developers assigned to IT projects

What you'll learn 📚

  • Creating a temporary table and performing a SELECT with one SQL statement
  • What happens if I JOIN without a WHERE clause?
  • Repeat/recurse/loop processing with a single SQL statement
  • Multiplication tables using dummy tables and inline views/recursive/sequence tables
  • Generate random numbers within a given range
  • Creating Various Dates and Periods I
  • List comma-separated data in N rows
  • Convert row data to columns
  • Convert column data to rows
  • Get a list of periods for a schedule

Things to note before taking the course 📢

Practice environment

  • Operating System and Version (OS): Windows, macOS, Linux, etc.
  • Tools used: MariaDB 10.x or later (some features 10.8 or later) / HeidiSQL
  • PC specifications: Minimum 4G of memory / Recommended 6G or more

Learning Materials

  • See PDF and sample files provided for each course

Expected Questions Q&A 💬

Q. Why should I learn?

Not every software developer needs to hear this, but anyone working with data should definitely listen.

Q. Will it be difficult for non-majors?

SQL isn't a major/non-major field. If you have the curiosity, a little skill, and a little effort, it's possible.

Q. To what extent do you explain?

The internal data transformation process leading to the result query is explained in an Excel table.

Thank you for your generous review, nonoa846. The plan and lesson plan were prepared up to Part II, but the course performance was lower than expected, so we conducted a different course. I am sorry, but please understand that there is nothing we can do about it. Thank you for your comment.
