Just as cars are now more than just vehicles; they're now mobile smartphones, the shift from hardware-centric to software-centric is underway. As communication interfaces multiply, including communication with servers and other vehicles, hackers face a growing number of intrusion opportunities. Consequently, cybersecurity is strengthening, and countries around the world, including Europe and the US, are tightening the process for obtaining cybersecurity certificates. This article outlines the fundamentals of cryptographic algorithms for this increasingly evolving cybersecurity landscape, along with how these algorithms are applied to specific functions .

The primary goal of this course is to lower the barriers to entry into security. It begins with an overview of how automotive security is gaining traction, and moves on to learning and practicing security algorithms, as well as real-world application examples.

There are many types of cybersecurity automotive functions, but we have summarized the most representative and fundamental ones.

I believe the high barrier to entry in cybersecurity is due to its reliance on an understanding of security algorithms. To break down this barrier, I've strived to lower the barrier to entry for beginners by providing hands-on training in the fundamentals of cryptography.

After learning about security algorithms, you need to understand how they are applied in actual vehicles. We've prepared examples of representative automotive security features for cybersecurity.

There's a rule that says you can't get the feel for it if you only learn from books or blog posts. Accordingly, we've created example files to practice security algorithms and automotive functions, and students can also understand and perform actual encryption and decryption using OpenSSL.
