    Hello, this is Datarian Bomin.

Since October of last year, Datalian has been running a challenge where students read books related to data analysis and write about them. This time in particular, we are openly recruiting challengers so that we can do this with more people who want to upgrade their data analysis skills 🙌 Anyone can participate in the challenge!

    #DataNextLevelChallenge #DevelChallenge 1-minute summary

    • Read recommended books from data analysts in the field and complete the mission of verifying your identity on SNS and Datalian Slack once a week.

    • Anyone interested in data analysis can apply. If you have friends or colleagues interested in data analysis, please share the news of the challenge opening.

    • It will be a 3-week challenge + retrospective meeting.

    • There is no entry fee! Please prepare your own challenge book.

April Challenge Book: The Red Lie, Statistics

    image

The April Challenge Book is an introductory book on statistics that explains statistical errors that can easily be made in real life in an easy and fun way.

I think I need to have basic statistical knowledge to effectively utilize data in my work .. I recommend this challenge to those who are wondering if there is an introductory book that is easy to read rather than a stiff and boring major book!

For more detailed information about the challenge and how to apply, please check the link below :)

    Hello, I'm Bomin, a data analyst 😊
I graduated from the Creative Writing Department and started working as a data analyst.

When I listen to the difficulties of people preparing for employment these days, I feel like the situation has not changed much since I was preparing for employment. In this article, I will answer the questions frequently asked by those who are starting to prepare for employment as a data analyst.

    Q. What skills are needed for a data analyst?

    A. To find the competencies required for a data analyst position, you should carefully look at the job posting. This is because the job posting is a document that officially lists the role, competencies, and skills that the company wants from the person who will work as a ‘data analyst.’

If you look at the job posting, especially the 'Qualifications' and 'Preferred Qualifications' sections, you can learn more about the capabilities and skills required to work in this position.

If you want to know what skills are needed for a data analyst, I recommend you collect the data below and check it out for yourself.

    1. We are collecting job postings for data analysts.

    2. Look for commonly mentioned skills in the ‘Qualifications’ and ‘Preferences’ sections.

    3. Find out which skills are mentioned more in the ‘Qualifications’ section.

If this process is too cumbersome, I will share with you job posting data directly analyzed by field data analysts.

You can see the data from 40 data analyst job postings analyzed in the link below .

If you are wondering how to properly utilize this data,
Come to Datalian’s January seminar to learn the know-how of getting a job as a data analyst as a non-major.
I'll tell you some job-hunting tips from non-major data analysts who graduated from the Department of Creative Writing and the Department of Social Welfare.

Apply for the January seminar 'How did a non-major become a data analyst?'

I recommend the October seminar to these people.

👀 I want to know real-world examples of how other companies analyze data and use it to make decisions.

😭 I have GA4 data, but I can't use it. I wonder how I can analyze it to derive insights.

📈 I want to create a dashboard, but I don't know what metrics to use to compose the dashboard.

😢 I've been working hard on the dashboard, but I've noticed that people are increasingly not looking at it. I'm at a loss as to how to create a dashboard to share data in the future.

If you are curious about how to write a resume, what kind of analysts they want to hire from a hiring perspective, and how to prepare for an interview, please apply!

In Part 2, we will take the time to answer the questions you have sent us. Please write down any questions you have when you fill out the application form. See you next Tuesday (8/30) at 7pm!

    Seminar Schedule

    • Date: 8/30 (Tue) 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
    • Location: Online Zoom meeting room
    • Participation fee: 10,000 won
    • Application Deadline: 23:59 on Monday, August 29

:point_right: Click here to apply for the August seminar (Click!)

    Questions received so far!

    1. The domain of My Real Trip can be seen as travel and tourism. Can we say that a data analyst with basic knowledge of the domain does a better job? I am curious if there was a case where domain knowledge of travel and tourism was combined with actual data analysis !
    2. I am considering a graduate school (special graduate school) while working in data-related fields to become a data analyst/scientist. I also considered a government-funded program (boot camp), but I thought graduate school would be better. I wonder if graduate school would be a big help to my career .
    3. I want to work with data , so I studied statistics, machine learning, and deep learning. Will I be able to appeal if I apply for a data analysis position such as KPI management and funnel analysis?
    4. Looking at the seminars, it seems like many of them are people who switched from other jobs to data analysts. I also saw many people emphasizing domain knowledge. I am preparing for my first job, so I have no domain knowledge. Will that be a disadvantage in the job market? In addition, there are many career-related job postings. I feel like I have no place as a newbie who has no social experience.
    5. What are the most sought-after skills for entry-level data analysts?
    6. I am currently a new data analyst, but I have not been able to do any related practical work because there are no senior analysts in the company and the data structure is not properly established. How should I approach preparing for a job change ?
    7. I'm curious to know if there is a point of view that you consider most important when hiring for a data analyst career .
    8. I would like to know what competencies are required for applicants who want to transition from other positions to analysts, how to verify them, etc.
    9. I'm a marketer. How can I move on without any data-related experience ?
    10. I'm curious about tips for transitioning from a planner to a data analyst .
    11. I'm curious about what you look at in a resume and what criteria you use to determine which applicants are accepted and which are rejected in the document screening process!
    12. I'm curious about what you mainly want to verify in a data analyst interview and how applicants should prepare for it.
