The Linux Foundation is holding a two-day October Prime sale on October 6 and 7. This time, individual certification exams such as CKA and CKAD are 40% off, while bundle products that combine multiple certification exams are 50% off.
In particular, it may be worth considering the bundle products. If you are preparing for two or more certifications, buying them as a bundle is cheaper than purchasing the exams individually. For example, the bundle that combines CKA and CKS is reduced from the regular price of $825 to $413, while the bundle containing CKA, CKAD, and CKS is reduced from $1,245 to $623. If you purchase the same exams individually at 40% off, they would cost $534 and $801, respectively, so the bundles save you $121 and $178. The three-exam bundle is especially noteworthy: at the current exchange rate, it costs approximately 837,000 won, or about 280,000 won per exam. This is even lower than the approximately 360,000 won it would cost to purchase just one CKA exam at 40% off.
So how does the 50% bundle discount compare with previous sales? Looking at discount records collected since 2021, the only times bundles were discounted by more than 50% were during Cyber Week, held between late November and early December each year, and this year's May event. Over the past year, there were two 60% discounts and three 50% discounts. Therefore, if you wait until Cyber Week, there is a possibility that the bundles will be discounted a little more. However, the Kubestronaut bundle, which combines KCNA, KCSA, CKA, CKAD, and CKS, was also only 50% off during the two most recent 60% sales—the Cyber Week sale last year and the event this May. So, for this particular bundle, this sale is at the same level as those two events.
However, if you only need one certification, there have consistently been 50% discounts on individual certifications during Cyber Week. If your exam schedule is not urgent, waiting until then may be worth considering.
