While developing backends, I had encountered concepts like Saga and TCC at least once, but when I actually tried to explain them, I found it unclear how they differed and when each should be applied. Through this course, I was able to naturally understand why distributed transactions are necessary by following the process of transitioning from a monolith to MSA firsthand, and I was also able to clearly organize the concepts I already knew. In particular, reproducing situations that could realistically occur in production, such as payment failures or compensation processing failures, made the concepts much easier to understand than simply looking at the normal flow. I also liked the approach of using an AI Agent to implement complex compensation logic and failure-handling processes step by step. By directly resolving situations such as double payments and phantom seats, I was able to clearly understand why this kind of design is necessary. I would recommend this course to anyone developing in an MSA environment or looking to properly understand data consistency issues in distributed environments while also improving their ability to respond to failures.
