As a non-major, my head was aching, but it was a good kind of pain. To be honest, I didn't really know why I needed to learn networking, but after listening to this lecture, it really hit home—not just that "I have to learn networking," but "why this is so important." Explaining 20 years of network history—from Legacy to Converged to Virtualization to AI Automation—compressed into 50 minutes, the analogies were so intuitive that even a non-major could grasp the flow. Especially since the explanation included actual data, I could truly feel that "the industry is indeed moving in this direction." Personally, the most impressive parts were the "Python, no questions asked" advice and the talk about local LLMs. Hearing that Cisco is testing automatic router configuration generation by inputting topology and IPs, with over 90% accuracy, it was refreshing to see how deeply AI has entered the networking field. My thoughts were organized after the lecture, and I reached the conclusion that what is ultimately needed moving forward is a combination of AI + Network + Security + Programming, and that knowing these fundamentals is essential for making any kind of judgment. This lecture provided the starting point for that realization. It seems there will be two more sessions this year and an offline event as well; I am looking forward to the next lecture and the offline session to "network through networking." Thank you!
