This course teaches the basic principles of computer-based problem solving and programming methods using RAPTOR, which can be used to create flowcharts, and the C programming language.
Can determine whether a given problem can be solved using a computer.
Can clearly define the problem to be solved using a computer.
Rather than memorizing syntax first, you need to break down problems and design the flow.
After drawing the solution process with RAPTOR, you will implement conditional statements, loops, arrays, functions, and pointers in C.
Determine whether the given problem can be solved by a computer and clearly define what needs to be resolved.
Break down complex problems into flowcharts to organize everything from input through the processing steps to the result at a glance.
Control the flow with conditional statements and loops, and expand the program’s structure using arrays, functions, and pointers.
At first, code may feel unfamiliar, and you may not know where to begin.
However, by directly connecting problem definition to flowchart creation and C language implementation, you will develop the ability to design your own problem-solving process.
You move from starting to code without a clear plan
to becoming a foundational programmer who can define problems and design solution procedures
.
You will develop the ability to break problems down into flowcharts.
You can break down problems that once seemed vaguely difficult into the flow of input, processing, and output. By first drawing flowcharts for calculation procedures or simple work processes, you will develop the habit of determining for yourself what can be handled by a computer.
After organizing problem-solving procedures into flowcharts with RAPTOR, students connect them to C language syntax and implement them as programs. They progressively work through conditional statements and loops to arrays, functions, and pointers, building the ability to define and solve problems.
Practice evaluating input values such as grades or numbers according to conditions and processing multiple data points with loops using flowcharts and C code. Rather than simply memorizing syntax, check the flow in RAPTOR and execute it directly in C to understand how the code works.
Based on the RAPTOR flowcharts and C practice code written in the lectures, you can review core concepts ranging from variables and data types to arrays, functions, and pointers. By comparing the results at each stage, you continue practicing how to clearly define problems and transform them into procedures that a computer can process.
Section 1
Understand the basic principles and algorithms of problem-solving using computers, and learn how to analyze problems and express them in flowcharts. Use RAPTOR to learn sequential structures and the basic process of program execution.
Section 2
Learn the basic syntax of the C language and the procedures for writing programs, while studying the concepts of variables, data types, operators, and standard input/output. Develop the foundational skills to implement algorithms designed with flowcharts as C language code.
Section 3
Learn how to control a program’s execution flow using conditional and loop statements. Solve various problems logically by utilizing selection structures, repetition structures, nested control statements, and other control statements.
Section 4
Learn how to process data using one-dimensional arrays and how to define and call functions and pass parameters. Understand the basic concepts of pointers and memory addresses, and learn the fundamentals of applying pointers to arrays and functions.
Those who are new to coding and feel overwhelmed about where to start breaking a problem into smaller steps
Those who want to organize problem-solving procedures using flowcharts, check the flow with RAPTOR, and then implement them directly using C's basic syntax
Those who have encountered variables and input/output but often get stuck when writing code that changes results based on conditions or repeats the same task
Those who want to first examine the flow of conditional statements and loops with flowcharts and gradually understand how the code executes
Those who can write simple programs but find it difficult to store multiple values in arrays, divide functionality into functions, or explain the role of pointers
Those who want to learn the core structures ranging from control statements to one-dimensional arrays, functions, and pointers, and build a foundation for subsequent major courses and programming studies
