You can install the community version of MySQL from the Oracle website (it's free).
Understanding SQL Basics: Before taking the SQL course, it is helpful to have an understanding of the basic concepts of databases, but it is not required. A basic knowledge of what a database is, table structure, data relationships, etc. is useful.
Understanding SQL Basic Grammar: If you understand basic SQL grammar (SYNTAX), you can proceed with the class more effectively. For example, it would be good to understand the use of basic SQL queries such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, etc.
