I finished the entire course right away. I came in to write a course review and ended up reading some of the other reviews too, and I noticed people talking about AI. But these days, I sometimes wonder if there’s anyone making lectures without using AI at all. Personally, I think whether AI was used matters less than whether the end result is good. First of all, this course had the best structure and value for money. If you look up cryptography topic by topic, there’s an enormous amount of material, but when you actually try to study it, it can be surprisingly confusing to figure out where to start and how each topic connects to the others. This course does a good job of laying out that overall flow. Those who have tried running things like Astra or Fable probably know this, but once you generate various things, ask follow-up questions, and review everything, the costs add up faster than you might expect. Even if I organized just a few of the topics covered here in a similar way, it wouldn’t compare to the cost of the course, and when you factor in the time, simply taking the course was much more convenient. Cryptography was something I had always put off, telling myself I’d study it later, but it was explained in a way that wasn’t as difficult as I expected, so I went through it all the way through as if I were taking a general education course. That said, there were quite a lot of analogies, and emphatic expressions like “absolutely,” “never,” and “completely” came up frequently, so in a few places they actually started to bother me a bit lol. I think the next course would be even better if those parts were toned down a little. Still, overall, I enjoyed the course and found it well done.
